INFLATABLE BOATS AND RIBS

On Test: 2Bar 82 – more than just a RIB

The 2Bar 82 delivers RIB performance with exceptional customization and impressive stability, making it a standout model. With a completely new design, it features unmistakable black tubes and unique tobacco-colored upholstery. Powered by two Mercury V6 200 hp engines, it promises an adrenaline-packed experience during testing. The 2Bar 82 is also an ideal choice for charter activities.

The 2Bar 82 in detail

The stern of the 2Bar 82 is generously sized, and the two swim platforms make accessing the boat effortless. The shipyard has added two practical steps between the tubes and the aft seating, further facilitating boarding.

The gray synthetic teak with light-colored seams emphasizes the sporty aesthetic and highlights its speed-oriented character. The large aft sunpad fully surrounds the seating area, comfortably accommodating six guests. The high-quality upholstery, a hallmark of 2Bar’s craftsmanship, is available in a range of distinctive colors, ensuring both style and durability.

There is ample space between the seating and the console to install a good-sized table if needed. A particularly striking feature is the wide walkway between the tubes and the helm console. Despite being 8.2 meters long, moving forward to the bow is easy and intuitive, with a robust grab rail along the console providing extra safety. The helm station, while not oversized, comfortably seats two people side by side.

At the bow, the 2Bar 82 features a forward-facing bench and an excellent sunpad that comfortably accommodates two people. Beneath the cushions, a large storage locker is revealed by opening the hatch, offering ample space for stowing gear. To enhance versatility, the shipyard has also installed a support for an optional table, which can be set up by removing the cushions.

At the front of the console, a large compass-style door opens to reveal a cleverly designed space that can be equipped with a toilet and shower—a truly remarkable feature for a boat of this size.

2bar 82 Sea Trial

We head out from the dock with a bit of crosswind, and outside the marina, the sea has a slight chop. The two Mercury engines powering the 2Bar 82 make their presence felt even at low revs. At 1,000 RPM, we’re cruising at 8.3 knots, with fuel consumption at 21.2 L/h. The boat feels stable, with the tubes doing their job effectively.

The sense of stability increases significantly as we pick up speed. At 2,500 RPM, we’re at 25 knots, and the hull glides over the waves without slamming, finding a perfect hydrodynamic balance. Pushing the throttle further, we reach 4,500 RPM and hit an impressive 48 knots. Despite the speed, the steering remains smooth. However, at such high velocities, it’s clear that the helmsman needs to be fully in control.

Reducing the throttle to 3,000 RPM, the Garmin screen shows 30 knots. Astonishingly, after hitting 48 knots, cruising at 30 knots almost feels like we’re standing still. The grip is excellent, and even during sharp turns, the tubes keep the boat perfectly on track.

Before docking, I stop in the marina’s entry channel to test a few reverse maneuvers. The steering system performs exceptionally well, with the hull responding instantly and precisely to every command.
