Adler Suprema Hybrid . Here is one among the world’s most efficient yachts.

Maybe the pioneer of a new generation of boats, the Adler Supera Hybrid is the first yacht built by the Swiss shipyard Adler Yacht that has chosen the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to make its world debut.

Innovation is immediately clear from her exterior lines, designed by Nuvolari Lenard, the Venice-based studio that has recently become one of the main yacht design influencers. More specifically, the Italian design studio succeeded in creating an innovative 23-metre flybridge yacht without abandoning or distorting any of the traditional standards of its class. Yet, the yacht has an aesthetically pleasing design. Noteworthy are, for example, the tapered profile of bulwarks and the muscly tight lines of the hull, whose profile is maybe more similar to that of a modern fisherman than to a classic flybridge yacht’s one. In the superstructure, the combination of black windows and structural elements and the white fly deck base, which functions as a side-deck cover, represents an additional value.

Here, in Fort Lauderdale, competitors are very strong but I’m pretty sure Adler Suprema Hybrid will be one of the brightest stars of the upcoming show. It’s a unique yacht with a sophisticated design, a number of modern features usually found on much bigger boats, such as state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion, iPad controls and heated floors, and strong, lightweight and efficient hull made from carbon ” claimed Philipp Pototschnik, Chief Executive Officer of Adler Yacht.

The 76′ Suprema features advanced hybrid propulsion system and a lightweight carbon hull that significantly contributes to improve performance and fuel efficiency. The hull was built by the Monfalcone-based Cantiere Alto Adriatico 1977 while the so-called Hybrid Marine Solutions (HMS) were developed by Germany and Austria-based companies and engineers strongly experienced in the marine, aviation and automotive industries.

Two years of testing and four years of development have resulted in what is probably the world’s most efficient yacht in its class, with up to 50% more efficiency than a conventional system: at a rate of  8 knots, with a fuel capacity of 5,200 liters, this flybridge yacht can provide a range of over 3,500 nautical miles.

The Suprema’ s diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system includes two carbon propellers with twin Caterpillar Cat 18 1,115hp engines and twin high-efficiency 100kW e-units, which alone can provide up to 1 hour of silent electric propulsion at 8 knots. 1 hour is also the time required for a full batteries’ recharge. Emission and vibration-free propulsion can be achieved up to 10 knots but the genuine quality of the semi-displacing hull is clear even at higher speed: the Suprema can, in fact, provide a maximum output of up to 28 knots and a high-speed cruising of 22 knots.

Advanced technology is a key part of this yacht. As already mentioned above, iPad controls allow the owner to monitor and change the settings of the yacht’s various systems, even when not on board. Exterior glass panels can even become opaque and provide more privacy instantaneously. The high-capacity batteries can last all day, by allowing guests to enjoy the full suite of facilities without needing to touch the generator or engines.

Technology is a key part even in terms of safety: a sophisticated fire alarm and suppression system, CCTV, infrared and underwater cameras offer peace of mind, while Adler offers 24-hour phone support to clients.

Nuvolari Lenard’s designers succeeded in maximizing the overall efficiency of the yacht through well-arranged and spacious interiors and exteriors. The fly bridge, for example, is one of the largest fly bridges of its class. There is accommodation for up to 10 guests in three or five high density cabin arrangements, as well as two live-aboard crew. In the model exhibited in Florida, the master cabin was positioned amidships and included a walk-in closet while the two double guest cabins were located to the bow and the stern respectively.

The main deck hosts a galley, a bathroom, a partitioned wheelhouse and a large saloon. The latter is ideally split into two different areas: a dining area overlooking the aft deck and a dinette-living room positioned next to the main bulwark.

As already mentioned, there are some small, hidden details that make a large impact on board, including under-floor heating on the main deck and lower deck bathrooms, the infrared strip on the stern cockpit that protects against chilly conditions, showers on the fly bridge and chilled cup holders designed to provide additional comfort in the summer’s heat.

Developed on a fixed technological platform, the Adler Suprema Hybrid is a semicustom yacht with a great number of interior layout and decoration options available to owners.
