ADVANCED A80: A POWERFUL MINI MAXI YACHT

Advanced 80 Apsaras has already sailed 12,000 miles up a down the Atlantic in a year. Her Chinese owners don’t like sunbathing or staying at anchor in a bay for a bath. They prefer sailing. At sea, the captain says, the boat is fast as lighting: ” From Bermuda to Horta, in the Azores, we took 8 days by sailing at about 18 knots. We reached 28 knots, despite an over 35-knot-wind and very rough sea“.

Apsaras was at Cannes Yachting Festival and she will be at next Genoa (September 20-25) and Montecarlo (September 28-October 1) Boat Show, too. Moreover, Boatandboats.com will propose you the new ” 100 miles aboard…” section in the next few days.

 

Designed by Reichel Pugh and Nauta Yachts, this yacht wants to be the best in terms of performances, comfort and real luxury.

Once aboard, the first thing which astonishes is the huge cockpit that, as says Antonella di Leo, Marketing Manager and founder, together with Marco Tursini, of Advanced Yachts, has the same size as a 100-foot-boat. ” We designed it coplanar (there’s only one step between the guest area and the wheel house) in order to accent its size and increase comfort. Despite this choise, interiors are far from sacrified”. Volumes below deck are in fact another strong point of this yacht.

 

The hall has a lunch zone on the left with a king-sized table , a relaxation area and a chart table on the right. The huge windows along the deckhouse flood interiors with natural light.

 

 

The layout of Advanced 80 number one has the kitchen open on the hall– as the owner required-, a fore full-beam master cabin, two guest cabins at mid-ship and a fore crew’s zone ( the main cabin can be divided to obtain two smaller ones with a bathroom).

But Advanced has designed some other layouts, with a fore master cabin and an astern kitchen. Anyway, customization is high “except for hull and bridge – says Antonella di Leo – we can follow any desire.”

 

 

Nauta Yachts has totally followed Advanced’s family feeling. The deck is almost a clear flash deck, the deckhouse is well-incorporated with the bridge, riggings are near the two rudder blades. Inside, the use of a brushed whitened teak (as an alternative, the yard proposes oak) ensures a great elegance.

Sandwich panels with fibreglass and carbon reinforcements are impregnated with epoxy resins in a vacuum infusion process and reinforced with unidirectional carbon fibre in high load areas. Deck, mast and boom are made of carbon, while rigging is made of Pbo.
