THE FIRST MILES OF ARROW 460 GRANTURISMO. THE FIRST YACHT BY MERCEDES BENZ

Car manufacturers like boating very much. Some days ago, we presented the new superboat by Aston Martin; today, it’s the turn of Arrow 460 Granturismo designed by Mercedes Benz Style and built by Silver Arrows Marine (England).

It’s not the first time Mercedes has “crossed over” car world but it’s the first time it has designed a yacht. Mercedes has produced helicopters, lamps, glasses, apartment and even a plane until now.

Arrow 460 Granturismo was presented in Nice. Its proportions and dynamic lines remember the typical Mercedes’ cars.

It’s a very aggressive open boat with clear pure smooth surfaces and lines. But it is convertible into a cruiser. It has an unusual open poop on the sea and no external cockpit. Thanks to some retractable lateral windows and a raising windscreen interiors transform themselves into exteriors. Tables and beds are extractable so that they can be used only when you need them.

Gorden Wagener, VP of Design Daimler AG, has declared: “ Together with Silver Arrows Marine we have developed a completely new concept. It’s a very versatile boat with many advantages. Its charming design commits to functionality, like in our cars”.

The hull is 14 metres long and it is provided with a 940 HP engine for an over-40-knot-speed.  It can carry 10 people and it will produced in limited edition: only 10 models, whose price will be about 1,5 million Euros.

“In practice, everything concerning Arrow 460 Granturismo is unique, from its general concept to the smallest tailored detail – underlined Ron Gibbs, president of Silver Arrows Marine – It’s a yacht with a strong personality which combines the best of naval engineering with the innovations and elegance inspired to Mercedes-Benz. By combining boating with motoring, their respective languages of design, technologies and ideas, we have created a new standard of motor yacht, different from all the other ones”
