Astondoa As5: world premiere in Cannes

At Cannes Yachting Festival, a wave of Iberian nautical genius enveloped the quays of Port Canto: starring the As5 from Astondoa, the well-known Alicante-based boatyard. A very successful world première, which showcased for the first time to the public this boat with both “sportiness” and “craftsmanship“. The tradition of nautical engineering typical of Astondoa has been handed down with obstinacy starting with the predecessor of As5, which now has 57 feet to guarantee medium-range cruises in complete safety. We would like to emphasize that As5 is undoubtedly a well-proportioned yacht as it is in its firm, substantial lines.

Undoubtedly, “As5 takes her inspiration from the automotive sector and the best supercars”, sharing her “innovative” spirit. But there’s a great deal of “aerodynamics” that goes with the design, which is a source of refined geometries and ensures truly ample spaces. Options include a hard top that can be added or removed as desired. Power comes from a Volvo Penta D11 725 HP engine. The Man i6 800 HP or the Volvo Penta D11 – IPS 950 725 HP are offered as an option. The As5 has a fuel capacity of 2,200 liters and a water tank capacity of 600 liters. The maximum beam is 4.93 meters. The boat can reach a top speed of 32 knots. The superstructure rests on a V-shaped hull (built in AGR composite) in which there are three cabins plus one for the crew. The boat boats RINA certification.

Astondoa As5, a shipyard with 100 years of history

At the press conference in Cannes, Astondoa broadcast a highly emotional video tracing the history of this family-run shipyard that boasts more than a century of nautical experience. Four generations have succeeded one another at the helm of a shipyard that exports a great deal to the United States. “Every boat is unique, worked on in detail and custom-made’“: the shipyard’s motto then underlines its mission: “No two people are the same and no two Astondoa are the same”. And we know how “originality” and “uniqueness” are always highly appreciated by owners.

Once aboard As5, what immediately catches the eye is the refined starboard staircase from which the flybridge is accessed by sampling a square reflective steel handrail. The aft table, duly shaded by the flybridge, is surrounded by sofas and carefully protected by the high bulwarks. And there’s a glass screen framed perfectly in a matte-black frame, which filters out prying eyes when moored in the marina. In front, the aft platform serves well as a beach area covered with light-coloured teak.

The cockpit invites the passengers to enjoy the routine on board while protecting themselves from the sea air with a large, fully sliding aft glass door, while the windows on the starboard and port sides are vertical and provide complete transparency for the view. The side-decks are really easy and free from covers.

On the left of the cockpit, the galley is modern and gives way to the dinette that follows it with a large sofa and table.

The helm station is located on the starboard side, with the windscreen transverse and fully integrated into the cockpit superstructure. The foredeck has a simply immense sundeck that is well protected by the high handrails that surround the boat in a clearly visible arch. The flybridge is just as spacious, with additional sofas and a table, plus a kitchen unit for outdoor barbecues. This deck is “suspended” in the air with the helm to starboard, shaded by the optional hard top which is black on the outside but glossy white on the inside.

On the lower deck the cabins are modernly furnished. The master cabin is full-beam forward and features champagne-coloured timber and cushions. The heads are large with a separate shower in the large glass box whose walls are decorated with marble veining. As5 is a yacht that does not fail to express all round great luxury well combined with abundant space and sportiness.
