If you scroll down the endless Barcolana’s rank, Elan S5 Rotfipfler will appear not so far. It’s just on the third of 46 pages, 57° in the general ranking and first in its class (the second one which included boats from 11.11 to 12 m).
Not bad for the owner and the Austrian skipper Christian Bayer’s crew (in the photo),
A great satisfaction for the Slovenian yard which has some of its fast cruise boats high in Barcolana’s rank every year and that, precisely on the base of S5 bottom, is about to launch a new GT5 (in the picture above). It will have sport waterlines, an illuminated huge raised saloon in the deckhouse, a kitchen located just behind the fore bulkhead and a generous width (3.91 m). It will get the market in early 2017.
The aim is to propose a performing boat simple to manage, stable with her wide bottom, a double rudder blade for a greater control, a pronounced chine which gives a hand in case of tilting and a flat bottom in the astern zones to exalt performances. Elan GT5, designed by Rob Humphreys, is conceived for a small crew, rigging are all near the helmsman in order to free the cockpit (the mainsail sheet is on the deckhouse)
