Beneteau Group reorganizes US operations: production halts in Cadillac and three historic brands sold

The Beneteau Group has announced a significant reorganization of its operations in the United States, initiating the divestment process for its Cadillac (Michigan) production facility and the Four Winns, Glastron, and Scarab Jet brands. The decision comes amid an international climate characterized by intense geopolitical uncertainty and a slowdown in demand within the North American marine market. The announcement follows the group’s previous communication on May 4, when, during the publication of its quarterly results, a contraction in orders since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East was highlighted, along with the introduction of measures aimed at preserving operating profitability.

Production Suspended at the Cadillac Facility

The suspension of manufacturing operations at the Cadillac shipyard is scheduled to take place during the third quarter of 2026. Concurrently, the group has begun searching for potential buyers for both the production site and the Four Winns, Glastron, and Scarab Jet brands. The Beneteau Group specified that after-sales service and spare parts supply will continue regularly until the transaction is completed, ensuring service continuity for boat owners and the distribution network.

Two main factors drive this decision. On one hand, there is a structural weakness in the bowrider and jet boat segments—where Four Winns and Scarab operate—which have been experiencing a decline for several years. On the other hand, the international scenario worsened following the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East in March 2026, which further heightened consumer caution and slowed investments in the recreational boating sector.

Despite investments made in recent years, the American facility’s activity level failed to reach the targets set by the recovery plan. In the 2024–2025 two-year period, the brands involved in the transaction accumulated operating losses of approximately 30 million euros.

Focus on Beneteau Group’s Strategic Brands

The transaction involves three brands that represented less than 5% of the Beneteau Group’s total revenue in 2025. The company emphasized that this decision does not alter its ambitions for the US market, which is still considered strategic for future growth. The goal is to concentrate resources and investments on the seven brands deemed priorities for international development: Beneteau, Jeanneau, Prestige, Excess, Lagoon, Wellcraft, and Delphia. Today, these brands form the core of the group’s industrial strategy across European, American, and Asian markets.

Yannick Madiot, General Manager of the Dayboating Business Unit, commented on the decision, emphasizing the human impact of the operation: “While this difficult decision is rational, we are deeply aware of what it represents for each member of the team at the Cadillac site. The teams have shown exemplary commitment. What we owe them today is clarity, respect, and support that matches what they have given to the Group.

Innovation and New Models Remain at the Heart of the Strategy

In parallel with the reorganization, Beneteau confirms its innovation program. In 2026, the group plans to launch 24 new models, following the 23 innovations introduced throughout 2025. Early market signals are considered encouraging: retail sales grew in the first quarter of the year, and the order book for 2026 recorded an increase close to 10% at the end of April. According to management, streamlining American operations will free up resources to be allocated toward product development and strengthening the global commercial network.
