The Boating Sanya 2024 edition, held from December 5 to 8, hosted 45 brands from 10 countries and a total of 50 exhibitors. A total of 200 boats were showcased, 25 of which made their world debut.
From December 5 to 8, 2024, Boating Sanya 2024 took place at the Sanya International Yachting Center in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. Nearly 30 major industry associations attended the event’s opening ceremony, including the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), the Leading Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA), and the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA). The event featured 45 brands from 10 countries and regions, including France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Turkey, with prominent names such as Beneteau and Azimut. In total, 50 exhibitors participated, presenting an impressive lineup of 200 boats, 25 of which made their debut or world premiere.
The event also celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, incorporating elements of the Sino-French Cultural and Tourism Year, significantly represented in the French Hall. This space hosted an engaging video and photography gallery dedicated to the achievements of the Singchain Team Haikou, led by Captain Jingkun Xu, the first Chinese skipper to participate in the prestigious Vendée Globe race. This exhibition not only highlighted Captain Xu’s remarkable journey but also underscored the growing collaboration between the two countries in the field of maritime sports.
Beyond the focus on sailing, another section of the exhibition was dedicated to JFA Yachts, the renowned French shipyard celebrated for its expertise in the construction and refitting of custom sailing and motor yachts. The photography gallery showcased outstanding vessels such as Bystander, Sea Eagle, and Zeepaard, illustrating the shipyard’s commitment to excellence and innovation in yacht building.
Additionally, a section dedicated to maritime culture and history provided insights into France’s rich nautical heritage, featuring a collection of antique prints and artifacts that reflect the historical ties between France and the sea. This multifaceted exhibition not only commemorates a significant diplomatic milestone but also fosters a deeper understanding of the cultural exchanges that have shaped relations between China and France.

Founded in 1874 in a small American town, the brand has refined its craftsmanship over the decades, becoming synonymous with the ultimate boating experience. Known for its iconic deep-V hull and elegant teak details, Chris-Craft has set a global standard in the nautical industry. Its boats have graced the seas of distinguished owners such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Frank Sinatra, Katharine Hepburn, and John F. Kennedy, further cementing its status as a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
At Boating Sanya, Chris-Craft celebrated its 150th anniversary with a spectacular event showcasing its rich heritage. The exhibition featured a captivating display of classic models alongside historical photographs, weaving together the brand’s narrative. Attendees, including yacht enthusiasts from Sanya and around the world, had the opportunity to hear stories about the brand’s connections with U.S. presidents and Hollywood icons, offering a unique glimpse into the allure of American yachting culture.
Highlights of Boating Sanya included the CATALINA 30 and CALYPSO 24 models, along with the debut of the SPORTSTER 25, a new sports yacht launched in 2025 to commemorate this significant anniversary. The design blends a modern touch with the classic attributes of Chris-Craft’s style. These models embody the perfect fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of the market while staying true to its core values.
The term “Tiānpìn” is an ancient Chinese expression that refers to the sea and represents the essential role of the ocean in sustaining life. The exhibition titled “Tianpin – Secret Realm” offered a fascinating exploration of the ocean’s mysterious beauty through the lens of underwater photographer Cass Gong. Her extraordinary images captured the vibrant life of coral reefs, the delicate complexities of deep-sea plankton, and a wide range of marine subjects, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in this underwater world.
As a result, the exhibition attracted a large number of visitors, captivated by the exceptional works on display. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with the photographs, take pictures, and initiate meaningful discussions that reflected their appreciation for the event. Boating Sanya 2024 attracted a large number of visitors from China and abroad, including a delegation of professors and PhD and master’s students from the City University of Macau. The group participated in a study tour organized by Hainan Nansea Study Tours, focusing on luxury management and high-end consumption. During their visit to the exhibition, the students explored the innovative concept of integrating marine art, culture, and tourism economy through ecological imagery. This initiative led to the selection of three student proposals for the Macau Government Tourism Office’s annual report, paving the way for a regular collaboration framework between universities in Hong Kong and Macau to enhance study and research in this field.
