BRUCE 22E: A FAST 100% ELECTRIC BOAT

Canadian Electric Boat Company, one among the most prestigious electric boats producer in the world since 1995, has created a new performing boat with a classic design.

Called Bruce 22 and with a length of 6.7 m, she was designed to reach a maximum speed of 36 knots without using any fuel. This is a boat conceived for all those who love sailing in silence, respecting nature or those who want to enjoy water-skiing in a completely new way thanks to the possibility to install a water-skiing towing pole.

The propulsion system of the boat is provided with a closed-circuit water-cooled engine with permanent magnet and digital controllers, produced by the American UQM. 400 V able to develop 65 kW (with a peak of 100 kW) with a Panasonic litium-ion battery pack rechargeable at 100 or 220 Volts. The same technology is used by Tesla for its innovative electric cars.

The classic exterior design and traditional mahogany finishes act as a counterbalance of the more recent composite materials technology, such as the carbon fibre used in the deck. The aim is to create a classic-modern product whose style can go from one generation of shipowners to next ones, following a time-less fashion.

The boat, conceived and designed in 2 different models for 5 and 8 passengers respectively, has a draught of 45 cm, a maximum width of 2.08 m and an unladen weight of 1,088 kg. She’s largely customizable in terms of colours and materials: the owner will be free to choose the colours of the hull, the waterline and deck. Finishes are available in classic mahogany or modern carbon fibre. Underwater lights, too, are optional as well as the astern platform which allows a more comfortable access to water in total safety.

In addition to the total absence of noise, Bruce 22 promises a low maintenance cost. Unfortunately, the Canadian yard hasn’t revealed the important detail concerning range at maximum and cruising speed ( 36 and 17 knots respectively).
