Yesterday at 09:39 pm, Cippa Lippa 8, a Cookson 50 captained by Francesco Diddi, got Ventotene the first. Two minutes later, it was the turn of an alone competitor, Giancarlo Pedote on his Class 40 Fantastica Prysimian, followed by Andrea Mura, on his Ubiquity – Vento di Sardegna, arrived at Ventotene at 10:15 pm.

At 10:30 this morning, Cippa Lippa 8, the favourite of this edition of RomaX1X2Xtutti, is sailing at the head. It has already covered a distance of over 240 miles at over 10 knots. This moment, it is sailing at 8.5 knots.

During the night and early this morning, almost the entire fleet passed the buoy of Ventotene and now it is sailing southwards with light winds mainly from the third quadrant depending on latitude. A good weather situation which should be keep the same in the next few hours but probably a disadvantage for Cippa Lippa 8, which exploited stronger winds and reached a maximum speed of 18 knots yesterday.

Meanwhile, eight boats have abandoned the competition (now, the participants are 57 and not 65 like at the beginning of the competition); among them, Matteo Miceli‘s Hanse 370 Suadade which suffered a collision, and Carlo Potestà‘s Elan 419 Phantomas, towed to the harbour after a damage.

At the moment, Cippa Lippa is at the head, followed  by Andrea Mura’s Vento di Sardegna (4 miles fourther north) which seems to recover some little portions of mile and Giancarlo Pedote’s Fantastica Prismyan, about ten miles far.
