El mantenimiento es importante, y es importante observar los \u00abs\u00edntomas\u00bb de la \u00f3smosis, que ofrecen se\u00f1ales inequ\u00edvocas ante las que debemos reaccionar con prontitud. En primer lugar, tratemos de entender en qu\u00e9 consiste este fen\u00f3meno de \u00f3smosis, temido por todo buen navegante.<\/p><p>Todas las sustancias org\u00e1nicas absorben agua y <strong>este fen\u00f3meno se puede ralentizar, pero no eliminar. <\/strong>Puedes comprobarlo si tienes un horno microondas, un plato de la abuela, o mejor, un plato de la bisabuela y uno nuevo. Poniendo el primero y luego el segundo con un trozo de pan en el horno, ver\u00e1s que, en ambos casos, el pan estar\u00e1 caliente pero el plato nuevo estar\u00e1 casi fr\u00edo mientras que el viejo estar\u00e1 siempre m\u00e1s caliente proporcionalmente a su antig\u00fcedad.<\/p><p>Esto se debe a que el horno microondas act\u00faa sobre las partes acuosas. Y por su parte, un plato viejo, lavado y vuelto a lavar miles de veces, necesariamente ha <strong>retenido humedad y se calienta m\u00e1s que un plato nuevo debido a su \u00abedad<\/strong>\u00ab; lo mismo le ocurre al casco de un barco, que absorbe agua con el tiempo. Pero volvamos al tema de la \u00f3smosis.<\/p><h3>El origen<\/h3><p><strong>El gel-coat<\/strong>, la resina de poli\u00e9ster utilizada para proteger los cascos del agua y de los agentes atmosf\u00e9ricos y qu\u00edmicos y para <span class=\"ILfuVd\">proporcionar un acabado de alta<\/span> calidad, act\u00faa <strong>como una membrana semiestanca que activa el fen\u00f3meno de \u00f3smosis<\/strong>: el t\u00e9rmino procede del griego \u1f60\u03c3\u03bc\u03cc\u03c2, que significa \u00abempuje, impulso\u00bb.<\/p><p>En consecuencia, el <strong>agua atraviesa la capa de gel-coat muy lentamente y se deposita en los espacios intersticiales que se hab\u00edan formado inevitablemente<\/strong> durante el procesamiento de la fibra de vidrio. Poco a poco, se forman algunas burbujas que aumentan su volumen porque siguen absorbiendo la humedad que se infiltra lentamente. Presi\u00f3n, en la cara interna del gel-coat y en contacto con  <a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fiberglass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fibra de vidrio<\/a>puede alcanzar varias atm\u00f3sferas y provocar la t\u00edpica delaminaci\u00f3n superficial  <strong>con la formaci\u00f3n de una capa irregular com\u00fanmente denominada \u00abpiel de naranja\u00bb<\/strong>  que provoca una aut\u00e9ntica explosi\u00f3n, as\u00ed como la creaci\u00f3n de cr\u00e1teres cuyo di\u00e1metro puede oscilar entre unos pocos mil\u00edmetros y algunos cent\u00edmetros.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-104228\" title=\"\u00f3smosis del barco\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Osmosi-barca-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\u00f3smosis del barco\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Osmosi-barca-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.yachtingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Osmosi-barca-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.yachtingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Osmosi-barca.jpg 962w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>La mejor forma de diagnosticar la \u00f3smosis marina es la observaci\u00f3n directa: hay que <strong>raspar y retirar el gel-coat exactamente donde<\/strong> parecen haberse formado <strong>protuberancias<\/strong> o bolas. Si la \u00abenfermedad\u00bb se encuentra en una fase avanzada, <strong>aparecer\u00e1n inmediatamente caries visibles<\/strong>. En este caso, si metes el dedo en el peque\u00f1o cr\u00e1ter y te lo llevas a la nariz, encontrar\u00e1s un t\u00edpico olor a amoniaco; algunos pap\u00e1s primaverales lo comparan con el pis de un beb\u00e9 que lleva mucho tiempo con el mismo pa\u00f1al.<\/p><p>\u00bfHas visto y olido? No desesperes. Hay mucho que trabajar pero, gracias a los preparativos modernos, el<strong> resultado es pr\u00e1cticamente seguro<\/strong>: \u00a1Se recuperar\u00e1!<\/p><h3>\u00d3smosis: una fina operaci\u00f3n artesanal<\/h3><p>La operaci\u00f3n comenzar\u00e1 con la <strong>eliminaci\u00f3n de las pinturas protectoras y el gel-coat de las ampollas<\/strong> mediante (si es posible) chorro de arena. A continuaci\u00f3n, la superficie debe aclararse cuidadosamente y m\u00e1s veces con agua dulce y, si es posible, utilizando un chorro de alta presi\u00f3n para facilitar el proceso de limpieza.<\/p><p>En este punto, es importante que el casco se seque perfectamente, procurando exponer la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yachtingnews.com\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embarcaci\u00f3n<\/a> en un lugar soleado y ventilado durante no menos de dos meses.<\/p><p>Cuando est\u00e9 seguro de que el secado se ha completado,<strong> puede dar una capa de imprimaci\u00f3n epoxi y enlucir los cr\u00e1teres con un preparado bicomponente compatible con la imprimaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, intentando rellenar perfectamente cada cavidad. Personalmente, sin embargo, suelo elegir aquellas que, junto con el producto, aportan un material informativo completo y, sobre todo, comprensible, porque creo que s\u00f3lo quien es capaz de informar exhaustivamente a los dem\u00e1s tiene las ideas m\u00e1s claras sobre lo que produce.
