EXHIBITION OF DUSSELDORF: MAN OVERBOARD, A SAFER RESCUE

Its name is Mobos and it is one of the latest systems used to recover a person fallen into the water. It will be presented at the Exhibition of Dusseldorf.

It consists of a very light device (only 160 g, batteries included) which can be easily integrated in any auto-inflatable life jacket or classic foam jackets and a receiving on board device. The device worn by the castaway determines the position  thanks to GPS and it sends this on a radio frequency to the on board receiver.

In case of emergency, Mobos can be activated manually by the castaway or automatically by the jacket device. Then, the devices starts to work and it sends a sound alarm signal to the receiver. This happens before Mobos determines its Gps position. In few seconds, it starts to verify its own Gps data and it sends them to the receiver, where the castaway’s distance and position are displayed in a very simple way.

Unlike Mob systems integrated in the chartplotters, Mobos activates automatically and it continues to send the position of the person fallen into the water.

The two units, the jacket transmitter and the receiver, are located in a small box which can be moved into another boat.

Each boarded person can have his own transmitter on his jacket. In case of two or more people overboard, all signals will be received and displayed at the same time with the position and distance indications.
