ICE 52 NOMINATED FOR PERFORMANCE CRUISER CATEGORY

Italian nautical designers and engineers have certainly much to teach in the world of boat industry. However, unfortunately, as for sea culture and diffusion of sailing as a popular tradition, Italy is lagging after France and England, where sailing is taught at school. Therefore, even a “simple” nomination received by an English magazine for the 2017 Best Performance Cruiser awards has more than a symbolic value.

The English magazine is “Sailing Today” that, precisely this year, celebrates its 20th anniversary and the boat identified as possible winner of the 2017 Sailing Today Awards 2017 in the “Best performance cruiser” category is the ICE 52.

The important recognition comes little more than one month after the prize won by Ice Yachts at Asia Marine & Boating Awards 2017 in the  “Sailing yachts above 45 feet” category.

The nomination of the ICE 52 enables the boat to join the list of the hulls that can be voted on line from August 21st to 31st on the Sailing Today’s website. Winners will be then announced during the Southampton Boat Show, the international nautical event which will be held from September 15th to 24th in the namesake English town to celebrate the best of worldwide boat industry.

It is no coincidence that Ice Yachts is gaining such important position in the international arena. Since the takeover of the shipyard by Marco Malgara, production has been focusing on very decisive lines: use of composite materials and advanced construction technology combined with traditional Italian craftsmanship.

After all, the Salvirola-based shipyard inherits the long experience and tradition of former CN Yacht 2000, from which Ice Yachts has absorbed the most skilled figures in the field of composite materials processing.

The new product line that has seen the birth of very successful boats, including the Ice 33, the Ice 52 and 52 R, the 60-footer and the Ice 100, over the last four years results precisely from these skills and the innovations introduced by the new management.

Ice yachts are all performing hulls designed for both exciting sailing races and comfortable safe off-shore cruises. Today, the Italian shipyard can count on international customers coming from Hong Kong, Mexico City, North Europe, USA and many other countries all around the world in search of a precise type of boat.
