International Multihull Show: the world’s most eagerly awaited boat show gets under way

The International Multihull Show, the most important multihull boat show in the world, opens its doors today in La Grande-Motte. After a two-year forced stop imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the event is back with an impressive list of world premieres.

The venue for this prestigious event is again the marina at La Grande-Motte, a seaside town in the middle of the Gulf of Lion, a stone’s throw from the fascinating Camargue in the Occitania region. This is not a random choice, given that France is the “homeland” of these boats and that the most important boatyards in the sector are based here: Bali, Catana, Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, Outremer and Privilège. A “crowd” that manages to concentrate more than 65% of world production of multihulls.

Windelo 54

On the quayside, a parade of catamarans and trimarans, sail and motor-powered, cruising or super sporting. A total of more than 60 boats between 30 and 60 feet in length. Ashore, 2,500 square metres of exhibition space are dedicated to accessories, sails and designers… In short, in one fell swoop you’ll be diving into a specific world, that of the multihull!

As we were saying, there are numerous world premieres, only to be seen here, which add great importance to the event, such as Windelo Catamaran, which presents the Windelo 54 Yachting. This is a highly innovative sailing catamaran designed by the Christophe Barreau and Fréderic Neuman duo, with the special feature of having the cockpit inside the pilot house.

Another novelty of certain interest is the Catana Ocean Class built by the French shipyard Catana Catamarans. It represents the outcome of two years of research and, in continuity with Catana’s history, offers a sailing catamaran with brilliant performance dedicated to the medium-high end of the market.

Lagoon, too – a boatyard that needs no introduction – has chosen the International Multihull Show to present its brand-new Lagoon 51, but the list of premieres does not end here. Also present are C-Catamarans with the new C CAT 48, Marsaudon Composites presenting the ultra-fast ORC 57, and Squalt Marine International presenting the CK70, a sailing catamaran built entirely in aluminium.

So there are lots of interesting boats, a new world to visit and comment on in depth. Which, as always, we will do for our readers, directly from here, from the International Multihull Show.
