MAZU 42 WALK-AROUND: THE EXTRAORDINARY WOODEN SUPER YACHT TENDER THAT WOWED THE MONACO YACHT SHOW

Built by the Turkish boutique yacht designer and builder Mazu Yachts, the first Mazu 42 Walk-Around was delivered to her owner last August and presented at the just ended Monaco Yacht Show as the latest achievement of the Yalova-based company that has been manufacturing luxury hard top-equipped open powerboats since 2011.

One of the characteristics that distinguish Mazu products is the so-called cold-molded construction system. In practice, the company privileges an extensive use of wood – so, a traditional material for a craft that features very contemporary lines – now vitaminized by some layers of resin and carbon fiber.

12 metres long and 3.70 metres wide, the Mazu 42 Walk-Around is an almost pure open boat designed as a superyacht tender but equally good as a day cruiser. The center console is positioned amidships, protected by a light superstructure including a streamlined T-top and a perfectly rectangular curved windshield.

Given its nature of chase boat, the yacht has bulkheads that are high enough to guarantee safety and protection even in rough sea conditions, in combination with a sportive profile that is openly inspired by military patrol boats.

On-deck comfort and relaxation are assured everywhere. A large sun pad is positioned near the stern and next to the wide swimming platform while the cockpit, located immediately behind the center console, offers a comfortable sofa and a table. In the bow, a real open-air dinette is equipped with a central table surrounded by various upholstered settees. The whole area can be even shaded by some light fabric covers supported by structures that can be removed during navigation.

Of special note is the presence of a mobile galley equipped with Gaggenau appliances. This solution confirms the will of the yard to provide the boat with the best global quality in tune with the mothership it serves.

Power comes from two Volvo Penta IPS 600 435hp engines that deliver – at least according to the official data unveiled by the boatyard – a top speed of 47 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots.
