MONACO BOAT SHOW: THE YACHTING WONDERLAND

And to think that the first edition of Monaco Boat Show, in 1991, counted on just 32 yachts. The number has slowly increased and, in 2000, the exhibited yachts became 80.

Today, the event is the most prestigious boat show in Europe, not only because it is dedicated to the biggest boats but, above all, because it works and it has surprisingly grown over the last ten years. And not for nothing, the decision to postpone the event for a week last year created a domino effect on the schedule of all the other Mediterranean boat shows. In a word, this is the show that makes rules and that has suffered the fewest damages of the terrible crisis started in 2008.

Therefore, this year, Monaco Boat Show can boast the following numbers: 580 exhibitors, 125 superyachts with an average size of 45.77 metres and a total value of 2.7 billion euros; an exhibition area of 9700 square metres and a +25% of boats in water than last year.

In particular, the last three years have been strategic for Monaco Boat Show thanks to the greater interest of Chinese and Asian brands towards the event. The number of visitors, too, has increased. Last year, they were 34,500, 57% more than in 2014.

Moreover, Monaco Boat Show offers an interesting range of side events, such as Monaco Yacht Summit which  includes three workshops: Charter Workshop, which explores the possibility to make a yacht a source of income (both before and after its purchase); Management Workshop, an essential experience about yacht management, storage, refitting, mooring and insurances; and Purchase Workshop (maybe the most interesting one), a technical, legal, financial guide to buy these beautiful but demanging boats.
