Revolution or hoax? The first pictures of the innovative Bavaria DA 10

It aroused our curiosity last September, when Bavaria and Vripack announced the arrival of their new revolutionary boat. At the Boat Show of Cannes, they presented the first drafts and few information. Now, the German company publishes the first renderings. It will not be a real revolution but the boat is original and interesting. Certainly, it will make the news and the market will be obliged to consider it.

It is a 40′ motorboat; the first model will be launched next spring and it is called Project DA10. It comes from the suggestions of Bavaria’s customers: what do people need today? What kind of boat does the shipowner desire for his cruise and holiday?

The result is a classic-contemporary boat, proposed in two versions: Fly and Sedan, with two or three cabins. It wants to be a link between the requests of both those who love sailing boats and the others who prefer motorboats. On board, everything goes around a central hall, completely surrounded by windows and equipped with a kitchen and a living room. Below, there is a large technical room – an engine room and two double cabins. All in all, DA10 seems to use all the volumes perfectly; both the cockpit and the astern bridge are raised (in the rendering, you can notice this through three astern steps leading to the pilot house), which creates large and comfortable spaces.

Appearance is rather massive and it remembers that one of shuttles but without any ambition (or scam) of a Long Cruiser boat. It is conceived only for a simple cruise.

All this is possible thanks to a particular semidisplacing hull (designed by Vripack) which aims not for high speed but for comfort, safety and low consumption. The engine used is a Volvo Penta (from 75 to 300 HP).

The final detailed name and plans will be presented at Boot Düsseldorf next January.
