Rio Yachts Granturismo 60
The official world debut of the Granturismo 60 – the new flagship of the Italian boatyard Rio Yachts – will take place at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Following the request by a prestigious US customer, the yacht emphasizes extraordinary build quality and uncompromised ability to create unique boats with high customization standards in order to suit different needs.
The yacht was designed by the young and promising architect Marino Alfani who, at only 35 years old, is already one among the most established Italian yachting designers. The profile of the Granturismo 60 is clearly sporty, emphasized by an iridescent grey-and-anthracite livery, the same chosen by the owner for his private jet.
The presence of flat ample surfaces and straight lines between the gunwale and the saddle tank, in lateral windows, as well as in the fore sprayrail and the aft swim platform that stretches in the quarter side contributes to make styling contemporary and pleasant, with a clear reverse sheer and a streamlined bow profile.
Overall appearance is “softened” by the superstructure where long glass windows flood interiors with a great amount of natural light. Furthermore, the opening deckhouse sunroof contributes to makes guests feel plunged into a natural environment. The same straight lines are replicated in the transom, whose volumes are characterized by unusual angles.
The boat can be accessed from the large swim platform equipped with a 1.20-metre-reach crane to launch a 4.40-metre tender. The crew cabin, too, is positioned on the stern and boats direct access to the engine room. Power comes from twin Caterpillar 1,000 hp engines that – at least according to the yard – enable the Granturismo 60 to reach a maximum speed of 36 knots.
The cockpit is furnished with a large L-shaped sofa and sheltered by a telescopic hydraulically-operated awning. The forward section hosts an additional guest area with a C-shaped sofa and large sun pad with comfortable cushions.
A concealable door allows to separate the outside from the inside but, when necessary, disappears completely in the roof ( a distinctive feature that Rio Yachts boats on many of its models). The deckhouse features a large dinette and a fully equipped helm station, boasting all the latest comforts and technologies, including a gyroscopic stabilizer, while bow and aft propellers with joystick guarantee easy handling.
The yacht’s décor is characterized by a large amount of stones. Supplied by Antolini, they have been used everywhere, for the bathroom’s floors and walls, table tops and galley’s counters. Furthermore, interiors feature dark woods and soft lights. Following a precise owner’s request, upholstery comes from Armani Casa Textile by Rubelli in the light of the several customization possibilities offered by Rio Yachts.
Lower deck layout, too, was chosen by the owner himself. At the foot of the stepladder that leads to the dinette, for example, a large galley anticipates a spacious dining area while the sleeping zone includes two cabins: the amidships master suite and the fore Vip cabin, both equipped with en-suite bathroom.
