UBI MAIOR ITALIA, the jiber leading the sailing revolution

The jiber by UBI MAIOR ITALIA is a jib furling system that has revolutionized the way sailors handle their headsails. Unlike traditional furlers that use a rigid aluminum profile, the Jiber operates directly with a solid rod forestay that rotates on itself to furl the sail.

Why is the Jiber by UBI MAIOR ITALIA so revolutionary?

Lightness and performance: The absence of the traditional aluminum profile drastically reduces the weight aloft on the mast. This results in improved boat performance, especially upwind, and greater stability. Some estimate a weight saving of around 30 kg, which is a significant advantage for a sailing yacht.

Versatility: It offers the best of both worlds — the convenience of a furling system for cruising and the performance of a racing sail. You can use sails with hanks or a zippered luff sleeve, and the system is much faster to lower compared to a traditional furler.

Sail handling: The system allows you to hoist and lower the sail in the traditional way while maintaining full control over halyard tension. It can also be used with the sail partially furled (reefed), which is useful in strong wind conditions.

Advanced versions: In addition to the manual model, UBI MAIOR has introduced electric and hydraulic versions of the Jiber, making sail management even easier — especially for larger yachts.

In summary, the Jiber by UBI MAIOR ITALIA is the ideal solution for those who love both racing and cruising and don’t want to compromise between performance and practicality. During the Genoa International Boat Show, the company announced a further upgrade to the Jiber that will undoubtedly increase the success this onboard accessory has already achieved. The upper terminal will be removable (it is structurally divided into two parts), allowing the owner to use the same forestay even for racing—though this means losing the furling capability. This is particularly important because if a tuff luff is installed, the sail cannot be furled without risking serious damage to the tuff luff.

What’s more, UBI MAIOR ITALIA has also started supplying its new line of mooring cleats to the most demanding shipyards, once again standing out for innovation and design.

These new cleats, called BTS, are retractable and have been designed to meet both practical and aesthetic needs. They combine a modern, minimalist design with clean, angular lines—without compromising on strength.

Main features of the BTS cleats by UBI MAIOR ITALIA:

Retractable design: When not in use, they blend seamlessly into the deck surface, keeping it clear and uncluttered. This provides both aesthetic and functional advantages, reducing tripping hazards and enhancing the overall look of the boat.

Materials: They are available in anodized aluminum for marine environments and in stainless steel, offering different options depending on weight and strength requirements.

Customization: UBI MAIOR offers the option to customize the cleats with the yacht’s or shipyard’s logo—a detail that adds a touch of exclusivity.

Load capacity: They are designed for boats of various sizes, with lengths ranging from 25 to 43 centimeters and capable of withstanding loads from 3,300 to 7,500 kilograms.

These products are yet another confirmation of UBI MAIOR ITALIA’s philosophy of combining craftsmanship with modern production techniques to deliver high-quality deck fittings with outstanding performance.
