C-Tender 55S, the video test: an out-of-the-ordinary custom boat

The greatest desire of any boat owner is simple: to have a boat built to measure, tailored to their specific needs. This is certainly the case with the C-Tender 55S, the boat that Custom Boat has designed and built around the needs of its lucky owner. In this new video test by The International Yachting Media, we discover this magnificent yacht moored in the Hamptons, one of the most beautiful locations near New York.

The C-Tender 55S in detail

Born from an idea by Mauro Corvisieri, the C-Tender 55S was brought to life by a stellar team that, in addition to Corvisieri’s own supervision, includes Davide Zerbinati overseeing project management, Francesco Rogantin from NAMES for naval engineering, and Valentino Gabriele who, together with the shipyard’s lead designer Paolo Tamburini, developed the exterior and interior design. The owner of this C-Tender 55S, named “Little Ram Runner”, wanted his boat to be designed with a distinctly Mediterranean style, focused on outdoor living. The main deck is completely open and features two large opposing pairs of sofas—simply enormous—each capable of seating six guests. Thanks to the central dinette as well, a total of 12 people can dine or enjoy an aperitif, served at two large wooden tables.

At the stern of the C-Tender 55S, there are two more opposing sofas, each with three seats, accompanied by an unlimited number of cup holders for placing drinks while cruising. The level of finish is outstanding, with refined leather upholstery and high-end paintwork, giving the boat a luxurious style. A particularly important feature of this C-Tender 55S, as requested by its owner, is the inclusion of two large side terraces with electric opening, which also allow for side boarding in the English style. This is a technically challenging feature, but Custom Boat managed to achieve it masterfully. When fully extended, the terraces add an extra two meters to the boat’s already significant 5-meter beam.

The aft deck of the C-Tender 55S is, like the rest of the boat, decidedly oversized. Here there’s space for a huge tender garage that can accommodate two jet skis. With the push of a button, you can also open a truly useful accessory made by Besenzoni: not only a retractable gangway for when docking stern-to and the dock is high, but also a convenient system that makes it easier to get in and out of the water. Under the T-top of the C-Tender 55S are two large galley units. The one on the starboard side houses a large grill and two oversized refrigerators; the one on the port side includes two spacious sinks, two freezer compartments, and two more refrigerators. In short, there’s everything needed to stay cool and have access to any kind of drink for several days. The forward-facing helm chairs are also massive. The ones on the port side are for guests, the central starboard seat is reserved for the captain, and to his right there’s room for another passenger.

The bow area of the C-Tender 55S is another masterpiece of design. Here you’ll find an enormous sun pad, comfortably accommodating up to five people lying down, along with two more opposing sofas, again equipped with cup holders and upholstered in the same top-quality leather. This space is essentially a lounge, which can be shaded with a cloth canopy supported by carbon fiber poles.

A special propulsion system

At the helm station, you’ll find the throttles, joystick controls, three XL displays, and all the instruments needed to manage the vessel, which features a truly distinctive propulsion system. The C-Tender 55S is powered by two Volvo D13 engines, each delivering 1,000 horsepower—but that’s not the unusual part. To meet one of the specific requests of its owner, who lives in an area with shallow waters, the C-Tender 55S is equipped with surface drives. This type of transmission allows the boat to reach high speeds—up to 40 knots. Some might think that a surface drive system is technically more difficult to manage, but that’s not the case here. Thanks to the latest-generation Xenta electronics, the boat is equipped with three joystick stations, making handling smooth and easy—as we show in the video.

The top-of-the-line Xenta system, combined with the Volvo Penta engines, clearly places the C-Tender 55S among the highest levels of marine equipment. This is further proven by the inclusion of a tropical-grade air conditioning system and state-of-the-art Raymarine electronics, which in this case go beyond the basics to include augmented reality, a thermal camera, and three large displays that allow for safe navigation—even at night.

The interior design of the C-Tender 55S

Such a luxurious yacht must naturally have interiors to match. The owner of the C-Tender 55S opted for a classic layout, with three cabins and two bathrooms. Specifically, the master cabin – which can be closed off as desired, effectively becoming a true private suite – features a centrally positioned king-size bed with two steps for easier access, and a private bathroom with an exceptionally large separate shower. Inside, there is ample storage space, with well-crafted wardrobes and drawers.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a shipyard capable of fulfilling all your dreams—and above all, of building a yacht tailored to your specific needs—Custom Boat is definitely the name for you.
