Aquila 35 Sport, the new sports catamaran - Yachting News
Cannes Yachting Festival

Aquila 35 Sport: The new sports catamaran bringing the 45 Sport concept to a more compact size.

Aquila Catamarans expands its Sport range with the new Aquila 35 Sport. Unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, the model adopts the styling and design layout of the larger Aquila 45 Sport, transferring it to a more compact platform. The concept remains that of a sporty center console where performance and convivial use coexist in harmony. The goal is to make the most of the available deck space, organizing it around three main onboard living areas: bow, helm console, and aft cockpit.

Aquila 35 Sport, a layout designed for outdoor living

The dimensions of the Aquila 35 Sport have been leveraged to achieve a spacious deck area and a distribution particularly oriented toward outdoor use. The hull measures 10.82 meters in overall length and 4.50 meters in beam: compact dimensions that nevertheless do not prevent finding everything on board, even for a weekend trip.

At the bow, the seating can comfortably accommodate four people, with several storage compartments integrated into the layout. But the centerpiece of onboard life is at the stern, where a large U-shaped seating area equipped with an adjustable backrest can transform into a sunbed. A lateral movement system also allows moving the seating with the simple press of a button. In this way, it is possible to widen the central walkway and facilitate movement on board.

The design is based on a double-stepped catamaran hull, engineered to reduce drag and improve efficiency at various speeds. The standard propulsion features two Mercury Verado V8 300 horsepower engines, but as an option, it is possible to choose a pair of Mercury Verado V10 400 horsepower engines. Depending on the configuration, the declared top speed is between 39 and 45 knots, while the cruising speed ranges between 25 and 34 knots, maintaining extraordinary stability thanks to the catamaran configuration. Furthermore, the shallow draft allows reaching anchorages close to beaches and coastal areas characterized by shallower waters.

The aft cockpit has been designed as a true multifunctional area. The U-shaped seating can be transformed into a sunbed thanks to the adjustable backrest, while the mobile configuration allows quickly modifying the width of the walkway. The amenities also include a wet bar, a sink, multiple storage compartments, and a galley block with a Corian countertop.

For entertainment, the 35 Sport features a Fusion Signature Series audio system with six speakers. The stern area also integrates a retractable stainless steel swimming ladder, stainless steel side gates, and a pull-out fresh water shower on the transom.

A console designed around the driver

The helm station is also part of the project’s convivial philosophy. The console features four seats equipped with flip-up bolsters, armrests, and various adjustments. The layout was conceived to keep the captain integrated into onboard life, rather than separating them from the common areas.

The dashboard is positioned relatively low to improve visibility and accessibility, while maintaining high protection from the elements during navigation.

A cabin for two people

Below deck, the Aquila 35 Sport reveals its true nature as a cruising vessel. The cabin can accommodate two people in a queen-size double bed equipped with a memory foam mattress, accessed through a locking sliding door. Completing the interior accommodations is a private head with a shower. Options also include a lithium battery pack designed to allow the use of the air conditioning system even without shore power connection. An feature that allows using the 35 Sport for weekends and short cruises as well, beyond its primary vocation as a sporty dayboat.

Onboard technology and equipment

Among the technical features of the Aquila 35 Sport is the C-Zone digital electrical management system, which allows monitoring and controlling the vessel’s DC power supply. The fiberglass hardtop has also been designed to accommodate optional racks for transporting SUPs, bicycles, and kayaks. Also very interesting is the optional Makefast shading system, which allows extending the sun-protected area.

Jean Raas, Chief Product Officer and CEO of Aquila USA, summarizes the philosophy of the new model as follows: “The 35 Sport brings everything that worked so well on the 45 Sport to an owner looking for something more compact, without losing any of the character or performance. The emphasis on entertainment and social life is evident in every detail, and the boat fully delivers on what its name promises in terms of excellent sports performance.“

Conclusions

Aquila 35 Sport fits into the development strategy of the Sport family, proposing on a more compact platform some of the distinctive elements introduced with the Aquila 45 Sport. The concept of the new model keeps three elements at its core: performance, outdoor space utilization, and conviviality. The double-stepped hull, Mercury engine options up to 800 total horsepower, and a declared top speed of up to 45 knots define its sporty character, while the cabin, head, and comfort amenities expand its possibilities of use beyond just a day on the water.
