It costs only 69,900,000 dollars. And price has even decreased recently. It would be a pity to let  such a unique yacht get away….

In 2004, when Athena was launched,  she created some fuss. It was, at that time, the biggest private sailing boat; today, it’s the biggest one among  the classic ones. It was built by the Dutch shipbuilder Royal Huisman, designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Pieter Beeldsnijder and desired by Jim Clark.

Clarck, the net economy man who founded Netscape and managed to get out just before the breakdown of dot.com.

A sea lover, he was also the owner of Hyperion, a historic 47-metre-boat designed by German Frers, which astonished with its carbon mast (the highest one for the time) and its advanced electronics.

Today, he is the owner of Hanuman (for sale, too), a copy of J-Class Endeavour II.

But let’s come back to Athena.

She’s 90 metres long, 12.20 metres wide, she has 2.600 square metres of sails, three 58.80-metre-masts, 20 crew members and 10 guests. Her construction took 5 years.

Build according the typical style of 30’s, she has the typical clipper bow, an astern overhong and three decks. She’s made of aluminium. Classic style also for interiors. Despite all this “classicism”, Athea is a sailing yacht which can sail at 19 knots. A further reason to buy it…..
