FRAUSCHER 1414 DEMON: THE NEW FLAGSHIP OF AUSTRIAN SHIPYARDS

At the Exhibition of Genoa we have interviewed the Italian Frauscher importer, Mauro Feltrinelli, who has admitted that his favourite boat is “the beautiful old Riva Super Ariston”. Even if different, the new 1414 Demon boat remembers a little the motorboats of the first half of the 20th century, like all the other Frauscher’s creations.

The originality of this Austrian model is not style, which remains always the same, but a greater length (14 metres) you can hardly imagine at sea, after the previous successful models inspired by navigations in Alpine lakes.

The elegance, care and high construction quality which have been characterising Frauscher since 1927 are not questioned, rather revisited by Kiska Studio designers in a modern and more aggressive way. The typical Frauscher style is evident – vertical bow, dark windscreen, high quality materials – as well as the sport soul of the boat, which ,independently of the engine used, will reach a maximum 40-knot speed.

Speed and stability are assured by a deep V-shaped hull, designed by Harry Miesbauer.

What is really new is space. Below the deck, where interiors are almost asymmetric, the shipowner’s cabin occupies all the astern part and it is equipped with a private bathroom; the astern dinette can be converted into a guest cabin and kitchen is wide. On the deck, there are a sunbathing place, a table, a dinette, a barbecue. But what astonishes the most is the pilot house. Aggressive but elegant, with a central wheel. You can even add some very modern optionals, like a technological joystick, or a Skyhook mooring system.
