A GO-KART RACE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN

Leggi l’articolo in italiano

A two-level go-kart  racetrack built on a cruise ship. Although it isn’t the most luxurious element on Norwegian Joy, the new ship of Norwegian Cruise Line, it is certainly the most particular one and it is the first go-kart track built  on a ship.

The ship, which will sail in 2017, has been designed for Chinese market with the name of Xi Yue Hao. A very high-level market, for passengers who can afford something exclusive. A demand existing in China and that Norwegian Cruise Line has decided to intercept with the contruction of an Arabian-night ship.

It can host 3900 passengers and it is provided with a series of accommodations which have never conceived on a ship. Exclusive spaces, with dedicated staff, like a personal butler or private chef and waiters in a private restaurant dedicated to a single family or a group of passengers.

The technology dedicated to entertainment keeps up with the level of exclusivity of public and private accommodations and spaces. Like, for example, the room for virtual experiences, like roller coasters, climbings or divings, walks on the top of a 10-floor-building or along a cliff. The ship is also provided with driving simulators, gambling rooms, cinemas, pools, shops and wellness centres, all or almost all available in a private version, for couples, family or groups.

But the real news is the go-kart track, the first one on a cruise ship.

Norwegian Cruise Line considers it a very attractive proposal for the Chinese customers, who will certainly enjoy a race during their cruise.

If it’s evident that the ship has been planned by following some specific market surveys, it isn’t equally clear  if the American company, whose seat in Miami, wants to share the same proposals with the other markets or not.
