Honda Marine 4XC FRP: A successful debut - Yachting News

Honda Marine 4XC FRP: A stellar debut in Genoa for the new line developed with BMA

Honda Marine Europe selected the Genoa International Boat Show for the world debut of its new 4XC FRP range, developed together with the Italian shipyard BMA. Seven fiberglass models, from 5.88 to 9.10 meters, designed to create a boat-engine package in which the hull and the Honda outboard are engineered as a single system. During the Show, the public also had the opportunity to book sea trials to directly test the handling, maneuverability, and performance of the new packages.

4XC FRP, a single project for boat and engine

The family of seven boats is divided between Open Center Console and Cabin Sundeck, with lengths ranging from 5.88 meters for the H188 to 9.10 meters for the H299. At the core of the range is the principle that gave rise to Honda Marine 4XC Design, where 4XC stands for “For Excellence”: offering factory-matched boat-engine packages designed to operate as an integrated product.

The collaboration with BMA takes this philosophy a step further. In fact, the hulls are developed to be specifically paired with Honda Marine outboards, with engine options starting from the BF40E up to a twin BF300 configuration on the largest model. This is not simply a matter of installing an outboard on an existing hull: the project’s goal is to achieve an overall balance among design, performance, space layout, and propulsion system.

The new series also marks a significant change in terms of identity. For the first time, the Honda Marine brand appears directly on the hull, while BMA adopts a redesigned logo dedicated to the project for these vessels.

Seven models for the new Honda Marine-BMA range

The 4XC FRP family covers a broad range of uses, extending from compact open boats to cabin units with dimensions and engine configurations suitable for more demanding applications.

It is precisely the H299 that represents the flagship of the new family, with a length exceeding nine meters, capacity for 12 people, and a maximum installable power of 600 HP thanks to the twin Honda BF300 engine setup.

Honda and BMA: design and propulsion speak the same language

One of the central aspects of the project involves establishing a shared identity between boat and engine. The goal is to move beyond the traditional division between hull manufacturer and propulsion builder, delivering a package conceived from inception as a single entity to the customer.”Our goal was to create a unified product identity, allowing the boat and the Honda outboard to be perceived as a single complete product. By joining BMA’s expertise in naval design with Honda’s distinctive styling DNA through a coherent design language, we achieved seamless integration between boat and propulsion system. The result is a refined and distinctive presence on the water that delivers a premium and engaging experience for customers.”

Kenji Morita, President of Honda R&D Europe, confirms: “Our goal was to create a unified product identity, allowing the boat and the Honda outboard to be perceived as a single complete product. By joining BMA’s expertise in naval design with Honda’s distinctive styling DNA through a coherent design language, we achieved seamless integration between boat and propulsion system. The result is a refined and distinctive presence on the water that delivers a premium and engaging experience for customers.”

A concept also reiterated by Cristian Pellegrino, General Manager of Honda Marine Europe: “Born from the perfect synergy between engine and boat, the 4XC concept has already set new standards in combining high performance with distinctive design, offering unique advantages to all boating enthusiasts. We are thrilled to continue this story by expanding our strategic partnership with BMA and proud that the new FRP range will feature the Honda Marine brand on the hull for the first time. At the heart of the 4XC FRP range is the idea of a complete, customized, and integrated boating experience true to the ‘For Excellence’ standard, with an optimized BMA design that harmonizes perfectly with Honda engines and the needs of today’s customers.”

A strategic partnership with BMA

The new family thus consolidates the collaboration between Honda Marine and BMA, a brand belonging to Ribitaly alongside BWA. Comments William Breventani, CEO of Ribitaly: “This expanded partnership marks an important milestone, one that BMA is proud of. Combining our distinctly styled hulls with Honda’s legendary engineering excellence under the Honda Marine brand creates a powerful synergy that will set a new benchmark for the market.”

The choice of Genoa for the global launch allowed Honda Marine to present the entire project philosophy in a single venue, showcasing not only the new hulls, but above all the way they were designed to interact with the brand’s propulsion lineup.

Available exclusively through the Honda network

Another distinctive element concerns commercialization. The 4XC FRP range will be reserved exclusively for Honda powertrains and will be available starting in November through the manufacturer’s official network. This decision makes it possible to bring service, warranty, and after-sales support under a single commercial structure, leveraging Honda dealer network across Europe. For customers, this means purchasing not just a hull powered by a Honda outboard, but a package developed and distributed as an integrated solution.

Conclusions

With the new 4XC FRP range presented at the Genoa International Boat Show, Honda Marine takes an important step in its boat-engine package strategy. Indeed, the collaboration with BMA brings the 4XC concept to seven fiberglass vessels, spanning a segment from just under six to over nine meters. However, the most interesting highlight extends beyond the number of models. The project aims to build a shared identity between hull and propulsion, leading for the first time to having the Honda Marine brand displayed directly on the boats. This philosophy will also extend to commercial distribution, with an exclusive Honda range offered through the official European network.

4XC FRP Honda Marine – FAQ

The new line consists of seven boats: four Open Center Console models and three Cabin Sundeck models, with lengths ranging from 5.88 to 9.10 meters.

The range is born from the collaboration between Honda Marine Europe and BMA, an Italian shipyard belonging to the Ribitaly group. The BMA hulls have been integrated into the 4XC project and optimized for Honda engines.

The flagship of the line is the H299 Cabin Sundeck. It measures 9.10 meters in length and 2.90 meters in beam, can accommodate up to 12 people, and offers a twin 300 HP Honda outboard configuration.

Configurations cover a wide range, starting from the Honda BF40E on smaller models up to a twin BF300 setup on the H299.

Following its world debut at the Genoa International Boat Show, commercial distribution is scheduled to begin in November exclusively through the Honda network in Europe.
