Today, we want to cheer up and cause a little of jealousy with some proper moorings.
The video above shows a real competition, the Pocomoke Boat Docking Contest, which takes place every year in the namesake city of Maryland, USA.
And it is not the only competition of this kind. Near Taylor’s Island (always in Maryland) the Watermen’s Rodeo sees crews challenging every year to win for the best mooring.
But in order to see some incredible manoeuvres it is not necessary to attend these particular events; it is sometimes sufficient to stay in the dock and enjoy the show directly from your boat, like in the video below.
Perfect moorings are possible on sailing boats, too. At Marina Coppola, Amalfi, boats are moored directly by the Harbour Master because the passage is too narrow.
