NEW EVINRUDE E-TEC G2 150, 175 AND 200 HP OUTBOARDS

After the launch of 200 and 300 Hp models two years ago, Evinrude has just presented new E-TEC G2 150, 150 HO, 175 and 200 HP outboards to the European press in Baveno, on Lake Maggiore (Italy). Despite the rain and a cloudy sky, the event has been exciting and rich of many technical news to discover.

We’ve had the possibility to test the new outboards of the American brand on a long series of fiberglass boats and ribs, coming from all around Europe: Ranieri Cayman 23 Sport and Voyager 21 S, BWA Sport 28 GT 2 C, BWA 34 and BWA 30 Premium, Super Pro 220 and new fiberglass BMA X199,i Zodiac Pro Open 650 Ultimate and Medline 660, the small T.A. Mare Nuvola 20, Sting 610 BR and 610 DC, Nordkapp 705 Avant , 605 Enduro RS70 and Enduro Ranger,  Saver 750 Cabin Sport, Selection Boats Cruiser 22, Aston 23 and the fast Nitra 22 P, in the picture above.

To the American engines we’ll dedicate some articles next weeks with the premise that our expectations are very high considering the high performances and low emissions (-75%) promised by the yard.

Compared to their “older” brothers ( they share the same aggressive design, in addition to the possibility to choose among boundless color packages) new 150/175 and 200 Hp outboards are always V6 two-stroke direct injection engines but with a 66-degree-cylinder bank inclination.

Moreover, new G2 outboards offer the possibility to have an additional “virtual dashboard”. Called E-Link, it allows to display ( on the standard screen called ICON Touch) and checks some important engine functions and data, such as engine speed, fuel consumption, battery tension and water depth, directly from a mobile device. It shares the data on a NMEA 2000 network through any Android o iOs device.

E-Link is also provided with a Concierge Page which includes the links to the webpage “Find a dealer” and the option ” Send engine data” to send information to an assistance team by e-mail.
