ORIGO BOAT: THE PORTABLE AND 100% RECYCLABLE BOAT

At this Exhibition of Düsseldorf, we have been impressed by the stand where the Slovenian family has  launched its new Origo boat: a boat which can be totally dismantled and placed in your car’s trunk and a 100% recyclable boat. The person who had this idea was the father, a fisherman and innovator, who has always loved spending his time in the water but obliged to face high mooring costs, since he lives far from the sea. And we know well how difficult is to take care of a far boat… So, he got on with it and, together with his sons, he designed the Origo boat, he financed the project on Kickstarter and finally he commercialized it.

Origo boat is sold in assemblable parts, placed in 300×25 cm different bags, which don’t need difficult tools: assembly seems to be simple and, according to inventors, it takes no longer than 15 minutes (the video below illustrates the procedure). Standard supply includes a pair of oars but Origo can use a gasoline 3,5 kw engine or a 5hp electric engine. As an alternative, for a more ecological solution, you can use sails.

The material used is ABS plastic, which is strong and 100% recyclable. Lateral stabilizers and seats (up to 4 people) make the boat “unsinkable”. Planning and testing have been a long work also because Dolinšek brothers have gone all out, despite of small sizes, and they have planned an ecological and recyclable boat, easy to dismantle, and with high safety standards.
