RIO 42 AIR: NEW LOOK, EQUAL GRIT

New look for Rio 42 Air.  The restyling of this 13-metre hard top – presented for the first time in 2011 and now a classic of the yard – is by Marino Alfani and the technical department of Rio Yachts which worked on some adjustments but without abandoning some of the traditional features of this well-balanced marine boat.

Compared to the previous version, the hull presents two windows which flood both interiors and cabins with natural light, following the example give by Granturismo 56, while the interior layout is completely new and with the possibility to have 2 or 3 cabins thanks to a convertible dinette. The interior décor, too, is completely new, with different woods and fabrics.

In terms of engines, the master will have the opportunity to choose between an inboard-outboard version and IPS. In the first case, the boat will be pushed by two Volvo D6 330 HP engines for a 25-knot-crusing speed and a 32-knot-maximum one. The second version, on the contrary, presents two  Volvo D6 370 HP engines provided with IPS 500 for a 27-knot cruising speed and a 34-knot top one. Both the two versions envisage a steering joystick.

Meanwhile, the boat preserves some among her most successful elements: first of all, her crystal sliding ceiling and long windows.

The full-beam cockpit uses its 14-square-metre surface in a very intelligent way and it is equipped with a hydraulic table, a storable astern sunbathing platform, movable sofas, a chaise-longue and an external kitchenette. The pilot house on the right enjoys a complete view and it uses a well-equipped console and two comfortable seats.

The stern located navigation bridge is large with an hydraulic system as an optional item for the housing and slipway tender.

New Rio 42 Air was exhibited at last Cannes Yachting Festival (together with Paranà 38 and Colorado 56). As usual, she was particularly appreciated for the good compromise she offers in terms of space, consumption and performances.

In 2015, two models of this boat was chosen as tenders for the ship of an important Arabian royal family.

Approved for 12 passengers, she costs 485 thousand euros in her inboard-outboard version and  510 thousand euros in the IPS one.
