MIAMI. CRUISER YACHTS 60 FLY: AMERICAN PRAGMATISM MEETS MEDITERRANEAN BEAUTY

4 mins read

Cruiser Yachts launches the new 60 Fly at the Miami Boat Show 2017. This latest creation is the new flagship of the American shipyard, which took its first steps in 1904 under the name of Thompson Bros. Boat Manufacturing Co. Today, it produces 24 different models of 3 distinct lines ranging from 23 feet to larger sizes.

The 60 Fly is a 18-metre yacht, equipped with a flybridge and a hard top, which shares the family feeling of the previous Fly and Cantius models.

The hull has a reverse sheer, large polygonal wraparound windows and reverse superstructure.

In this new version, the third deck hosts a fly bridge covered with a hard top which protects both the pilot station and the lunch zone equipped, in its turn, with a table and an astern C-shaped sofa. A grill and a wet bar complete the fly bridge design. Guests can also enjoy three chaises longues installed next and in front of the wheelhouse, together with a large sun pad located forward the main deck. The shipyard calls it “bow lounge” and it was designed as a relaxation area where to enjoy outside moments; it is, in fact, equipped with semicircular seats, two sun beds and two cocktail tables.

The same deck houses a large cockpit with a C-shaped dinette and a lunch table.

Inside, the first room we meet is the galley, equipped with a microwave oven, a convection one, a wine cellar, a small compartment for bottles, an ice-maker and a dishwasher. The galley is located aft to create a centralized entertaining space and a perfect linking point between interiors and exteriors.

The two worlds mix together thanks to a folding glass door. Well-protected by the windscreen, the starboard pilot station is equipped with a complete range of instruments for on-board systems monitoring. There are two pilot’s seats, both luxury and comfortable.

The living zone, located at mid-ship on the main deck, is entirely surrounded by the superstructure glazed surfaces and it has the traditional furniture arrangement of 60′ yachts, with a lunch table, a sofa on the left and an additional two-people seat.

Sleeping quarters are on the lower deck. The master cabin is on the beamest point of the boat, furnished with a king-size bed and a coffee table positioned opposite the wide glazed surface of the starboard wall.

The cabin is, of course, provided with a large walk-in closet and a comfortable toilet with washbasin and double shower.

The Vip cabin, too, benefits from the lateral windows to receive natural light and it is furnished with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. On this level, the basic layout includes a small lounge with an over two-metre-long sofa. However, customers can choose to convert this area into an additional cabin.

The 60 Fly also offers a standard-sized washer-dryer.

Another amenity of this beautiful 18-metre yacht which perfectly combines American functionality and Mediterranean details is the rear docking system with the controls positioned on the astern swimming platform, near the folding transom which gives access to a large locker where to stow any kind of equipment.
