Events at the 61st Genoa Boat Show

The Best of Sport will be coming to the 61st Genoa International Boat Show from 16h to 21st September, with the most beautiful boating wonders and special events. A rich programme of sports competitions will be held during the event on the Ligurian Sea. The opening day will see the start of the Genoa-Trieste RoundItaly, where participants will race non-stop for a total of 1,130 nautical miles in the Mediterranean Sea.

At the same time, the virtual version of the RoundItaly will also be held on the web, where, for the second year in a row, web sailers will take part in front of the monitors, with the aim of winning skippers at sea.

Moreover, the Salone will also feature the programme of meetings organized by The Ocean Race with “Genova The Grand Finale”, with the superyacht area hosting The Austrian Race Project, the finalist boat of the sailing competition that will also take part in the Mille Vele regatta, the pride of Yacht Club Italiano. In this case it will set sail at 11.00 a.m. on September 18th and the crew includes “personalities and sportsmen” as well as “team sailors”. This is the 33rd edition of the Mille Vele race: the prize-giving ceremony will take place on the terrace of the Blue Pavilion on September 19th, at 12.00 noon.

Not only sports events

Great expectations are also aroused by the Confindustria Nautica (Italian Boating Industry Association) Award which, as part of the Mille Vele race, will be reserved, in this first edition, for ‘the boatyard and the boat belonging to a boatyard exhibiting at the Boat Show that will have achieved the best result in each group’.

On Friday 17th September, at 2.30 pm, it will be time for the Vendée Globe 2024 with, among others, Giancarlo Pedote, the well-known (and adventurous) IMOCA Prysmian Group skipper, Valerio Battista (Prysmian Group CEO), and Francesca Santoro (Unesco IOC), all attending the conference to present a remarkable project aimed at protecting the oceans. The next edition of the Vendeé Globe will also be discussed.

On Saturday 18th September, the event’s audience will also gather at the Breitling Theatre, which will host ‘an intense calendar of events dedicated to sailing'”. These include, at 12.15 pm, a meeting with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli top team. And the great Olympic champions from Tokyo 2020 could not be missing: Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti will be present both during the event “L’eccellenza della vela italiana incontra il pubblico dal 61°Salone Nautico” (1.30 pm) and at a meeting dedicated to their success (4.00 pm). Shortly before (3.00 pm) the Italian Sailing Federation will present next year’s federal races.
