Following its world debut at Boot Düsseldorf, the new Greenline 42 is gearing up for its first on-the-water presentation at the 2026 Venice Boat Show, scheduled from May 27 to 31. This is a particularly significant event for the Slovenian shipyard, which is bringing one of the most important models of its new generation of sustainable yachts to the Venetian Lagoon. Indeed, the Greenline 42 represents a concrete evolution of the brand’s philosophy, with a design that focuses on energy efficiency, onboard comfort, hybrid propulsion, and greater layout flexibility.
The World Water Debut of the Greenline 42 Holds Symbolic Value
Choosing Venice for the operational debut of the new model is no coincidence. The Venetian boat show offers the ideal backdrop to highlight the features of a boat designed around the concepts of sustainability, silence, and life on board.
“Bringing the Greenline 42 to Venice for its first on-the-water presentation is truly special for us,” says Alessandro Lorenzon, Global Business Director of Greenline Yachts. “Venice is my home, and there is no better place to showcase a yacht that perfectly embodies our philosophy of modern, comfortable, and connected boating. The Greenline 42 brings together everything our owners appreciate most: efficiency, flexibility, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and the possibility of silent, responsible cruising. We are thrilled to present it to clients and the media in such a unique and meaningful setting.”
Contemporary Design by Marco Casali
Stylistically, the Greenline 42 introduces a more contemporary design language developed alongside designer Marco Casali, who also penned the Greenline 58. The yacht retains the brand’s signature traits—the “S” topside line, large panoramic windows, and a sleek roof profile—while reinterpreting them with sharper, more modern lines. Among the features characterizing the new layout, the forward lounge area stands out, inspired by the higher-end models in the range.
“New models are rare events for Greenline Yachts because we take pride in the longevity of our designs,” Lorenzon adds. “We started by gathering feedback from our owners, and analyzing their experiences clearly revealed certain demands: more cockpit space for relaxation, higher cruising speeds, and a more modern design language. The new Greenline 42 delivers all of this and much more.“
More Space and Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Flow
One of the central aspects of the project involves the reinterpretation of the cockpit, which is now larger and more versatile. The standard layout features a large central table for four with side sofas, while optional configurations allow for a drop-down transom platform and dedicated sunbathing areas.
The integration between the salon and the cockpit is another key design element. Thanks to the drop-down side windows and full aft openings, the interior and exterior spaces merge into a single continuous environment, designed to foster socializing and comfort both while cruising and at anchor. The galley has also been designed with a residential feel, featuring an electric oven, a double induction cooktop, and substantial storage capacity.
Hybrid Technology and Energy Autonomy
The new Greenline 42 confirms the shipyard’s strong commitment to sustainable propulsion and energy autonomy. The roof integrates ten solar panels capable of producing up to 4.5 kW under optimal conditions, while the 22 kWh battery bank (expandable up to 66 kWh) allows the onboard services to run entirely on electricity for over 48 hours.
The proprietary H-Drive 6G system combines diesel engines and electric propulsion, allowing for silent maneuvers and electric cruising up to 6.5 knots. While running on diesel, the system recovers energy to recharge the batteries. For those who prefer a traditional setup, the Greenline 42 is also available with twin 250 hp Yanmar engines.
Compared to the Greenline 40, the new model introduces a hull completely redesigned by the naval architects at Micad, aiming to increase speed and efficiency without compromising stability and comfort. The result is a top speed of approximately 25 knots under diesel propulsion—about three knots faster than its predecessor with the same engine setup. According to the shipyard, the new platform ensures an even more stable and smooth ride, maintaining the characteristics that have driven the success of the Greenline range in recent years.
More Refined Interiors and Increased Livability
The interior retains the two-cabin layout, featuring the master cabin forward and a convertible guest cabin, but benefits from greater overall volume compared to the Greenline 40. A second bathroom option also makes its debut, designed to increase privacy and comfort during longer cruises. Marco Casali also worked on the design language of the interior spaces, introducing new contemporary palettes based on “Honey Teak” and “Modern Oak” finishes.
“With the new Greenline 42, we had to strike a delicate balance,” Casali explains. “We wanted to reinterpret the Greenline 40 without giving the impression of something entirely disconnected. We focused heavily on the boat’s shapes, avoiding curved furniture in favor of sharper, more linear lines. This language echoes the bold profiles of the sculpted topsides and the hardtop.“
A New Model That Expands the Range
Initially conceived as a direct evolution of the Greenline 40, the project progressively transformed into something different, leading the shipyard to keep both models in the lineup. “Thanks to the feedback gathered from owners and potential clients, we realized that the Greenline 40 still has an extremely loyal following,” concludes Vladimir Zinchenko, CEO and owner of Greenline Yachts. “There are still many excellent reasons to choose that model. The demand for a boat positioned between the current 40 and 45, which also incorporated the new ideas introduced with the Casali-designed Greenline 58, represented something different. That’s why I decided to add a new model instead of replacing an established one.”
Conclusion
The Greenline 42 stands out as one of the most strategic models in the Slovenian brand’s new evolutionary phase. Contemporary design, energy autonomy, hybrid propulsion, and greater layout flexibility define a project that aims to blend sustainability and comfort without sacrificing performance. It is a model destined to further strengthen Greenline’s positioning in the modern, low-impact yacht segment.
