Ice 66 Suite: racing soul, Mediterranean vocation

ICE Yachts raises the bar once again with the presentation of the new ICE 66 Suite, a super-comfort evolution of the already acclaimed ICE 66 RS. The project was born from the desire to expand the range without replacing the existing production, introducing a version designed for those seeking futuristic design without giving up the solidity and performance that define Ice Yachts.

The new ICE 66 Suite is the result of a joint effort between the shipyard’s technical office led by Arturo Bono, CEO Marco Malgara, Farr Yacht Design for the naval architecture, and Lucio Micheletti’s team for the styling. “We wanted to collaborate with the best designers on the market – Malgara stated – to guarantee a light, fast, competitive boat that is also comfortable. The very best on the market, bringing the shipyard’s Made in Italy excellence to an international level”.

The new Ice 66 Suite in detail

The new ICE 66 Suite features full carbon construction for both hull and deck. This choice combines structural rigidity and lightness with the natural vibration-absorbing qualities typical of fiberglass, enhancing onboard acoustic comfort. The yard paid particular attention to noise reduction: a targeted study of noise sources and the adoption of a variable-speed generator have reduced onboard noise levels by as much as 1.5 decibels, further elevating the characteristics of this ICE Yachts 66 Suite.

The electrical system adopts the 48-volt setup already used on the flagship ICE 80, with next-generation batteries produced by MG Energy Systems and certified by Lloyd’s Register, ensuring safety and energy efficiency. The technological package is completed by an innovative ultrasonic antifouling system, which helps extend hull life and reduce maintenance needs.

From a structural standpoint, the keel blade is built with a double Weldox structure and a CNC-milled lead bulb, designed to withstand the loads generated by the generous sail plan.

The carbon rudder, with a 7-bar autoclave-forged stock, ensures control and precision even when heeled and under strong aerodynamic pressure, keeping safety as a central focus both in design and construction.

The hull has a distinctly race-oriented design, with a slightly inverted bow—like the OR65 and a hallmark of the shipyard—and powerful volumes. The aft-positioned maximum beam, significant righting moment, and 3.35-meter draft—considered the best compromise between performance and accessibility in Mediterranean ports—allow the ICE 66 Suite to compete with pure racers while remaining a high-performance cruising yacht. The engine, a 195-horsepower Yanmar, pushes the yacht up to 12 knots under power.

Details such as titanium pulpits, stanchions, and fairleads highlight the focus on weight reduction and corrosion resistance. The stern garage is record-breaking for the category—almost comparable to that of an 80-footer—capable of accommodating a fully inflated 3.5-meter tender transversely.

Life on board: luxury, light and conviviality

The cockpit retains the classic Mediterranean style, with generous seating designed to make the most of outdoor living. The coachroof, inspired by automotive design, integrates sprayhood-style coamings that conceal the sheet exits, which can also be managed single-handed thanks to four electric winches. The large forward glazing creates visual continuity between the saloon and the deck, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior.

The interiors are one of the project’s true strengths. The dinette, comparable in volume to that of an 80-footer, is flooded with natural light thanks to expansive glass surfaces. The galley is open-plan with a central island and fitted with state-of-the-art appliances, large Corian worktops, ample storage space, and a dedicated wine cooler. Natural light enhances the welcoming atmosphere, while the modern, functional galley design blends harmoniously with the surrounding spaces, further elevated by light leather-clad panels contrasting with ribbed walnut finishes.

On board, there is accommodation for eight guests, divided between an owner’s cabin with private bathroom and three double cabins, all with en suite facilities, plus an additional double berth for the crew in the extreme bow.

For harbor maneuvers, proportional bow and stern thrusters with console controls ensure millimetric precision in lateral movements.

The electronics package is based on the Hercules range by B&G, a benchmark in instrumentation for high-performance sailing yachts.
