SASGA Menorquín 36 Open, the Mediterranean dayboat redefining life on board

Engine options up to 640 hp, 23-knot cruising speed, and spaces designed to experience the sea throughout the entire day. SASGA Yachts has presented all the details of the new Menorquín 36 Open, the vessel with which the shipyard enters the dayboat segment for the first time. The model thus inaugurates a new interpretation of the Menorquín philosophy, creating a degree of expectation to discover the new frontier reached by the well-known Menorcan brand. However, to see it in person, one will have to wait for the Palma International Boat Show 2027, where it will be presented. It will be a particularly significant backdrop, given that the project was previewed right in Palma on the eve of the 2026 edition of the show. In the meantime, what was then still a preliminary drawing has today become a defined model ready for the market.

Menorquín 36 Open, a new interpretation of the brand

The Menorquín 36 Open was born as a standalone project within the Menorquín range. The objective is to transfer the SASGA identity onto a more open and informal boat, where most onboard activities take place outdoors. The deck layout has therefore been organized following the different moments of a day at sea: swimming, relaxing, dining, and cruising.

“The 36 Open extends the range toward a different way of going to sea: the full day, with outdoor life onboard and the build quality of every other Menorquín,” emphasizes Jordi Ferrer, sales and marketing director of Sasga Yachts. The project’s philosophy indeed translates into a spatial distribution that seeks to make the transition between different functions seamless, without giving up the elements that characterize the brand’s identity.

Aft, the swim platform integrates the ladder and a stainless steel handrail. Right beyond are two cushions nearly two meters long forming a spacious double sunbed separated by a central passageway. A solution designed to keep access toward the bow clear, but also to rapidly transform the sunbathing area into a social space. In fact, the backrests can be repositioned to become the aft elements of the dinette. The result is an area capable of changing function during the day, shifting from relaxation to sociability without substantially altering the deck distribution.

A central zone dedicated to sociability

The central section concentrates the heart of social life on the Menorquín 36 Open. The dinette features two folding tables that, once joined, allow seating for up to eight people. Completing the area is an outdoor galley equipped with a sink, a glass-ceramic gas cooktop, storage compartments, and two refrigerators. This is a particularly extensive setup for a 36-foot vessel, designed to enable an extended stay onboard even during a simple day at sea.

The helm station is designed to be used both standing and seated, thanks to two different positions for the driver. The instrumentation is gathered on a single ultra-panoramic display, while the hardtop protects both the helm and the social area.

The forward section of the deck houses a second seating area, more protected compared to the central spaces and particularly suitable even when the boat is at anchor. Here, the design recovers some of the most recognizable elements of the Menorquín tradition. The teak used on the rub rail and on the characteristic “nas” maintains the visual link with the brand’s identity. It is a choice that allows the new Open to set itself apart from the classic dayboat interpretation without losing the Mediterranean character of the Menorquín family.

A dayboat that can also become a small cruiser

Belowdeck, the Menorquín 36 Open surprises with the presence of true overnight accommodations. A sliding door leads to the cabin, where a 130-centimeter sofa and a fixed berth are located. To this configuration, a second sleeping area with a double bed and a separate bathroom are added. The result is a layout that makes particularly intensive use of the available volumes on a 36-foot boat, allowing stays onboard to extend beyond just the day.

The 36 Open thus remains primarily conceived as a dayboat, but offers the concrete possibility of spending a night onboard while maintaining an adequate level of privacy. A far from negligible detail, the materials, upholsteries, and hull construction maintain the high standards to which the shipyard has accustomed us.

Two power options

The Menorquín 36 Open will be available with two different engine configurations: 2 x 270 horsepower or 2 x 320 horsepower. With the former, standard, the shipyard indicates a cruising speed of 23 knots and a top speed of 28 knots.

The tank capacity further expands the model’s operating range: the 36 Open features 650 liters of fuel and 350 liters of fresh water. Numbers that complete a design approach in which the main use remains a day at sea, but without ruling out longer excursions and short stays onboard.

Conclusions

The new Menorquín 36 Open represents an evolution within the SASGA Yachts range: not a simple open variant of an existing model, but rather a boat developed around a different way of experiencing the sea. The deck is the main onboard living environment, with spaces that change function during the day and a direct relationship with the water. At the same time, the presence of two sleeping areas, an outdoor galley, a separate bathroom, and storage capacity allows its use to be extended beyond simple day boating.

With the Menorquín 36 Open, SASGA Yachts interprets the dayboat concept through its own Mediterranean identity. The result is a boat in which exterior spaces take center stage, without sacrificing the possibility of spending the night onboard. The two engine options, the cruising speed of 23 knots, and a layout strongly oriented toward sociability complete a project that expands the Menorquín world toward a more informal and contemporary use.
