Mizar 3, the wireless sensor that makes shipyards’ lives easier

Until recently, replacing boat platform sensors was a demanding and costly task. But starting today, it can be much simpler and faster thanks to Mizar 3, an extraordinary innovation introduced by Ampermarine at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival. The company, already a world leader in lighting systems for yachts and superyachts, chose the prestigious French boat show to launch a revolutionary technology that will simplify shipyard operations, saving them both time and money. Mizar 3 is a new underwater wireless device capable of providing power outside the boat without the need to drill holes for cable passage, ensuring maximum safety.

About Mizar 3

Mizar 3 can be used in all situations requiring 12 or 24-volt power outside the boat, such as for platform positioning sensors. Company owner Elio Tamanti detailed the potential of this product to YachtingNews: “The movement of boat platforms is managed by a series of sensors that determine their initial and final positions. These sensors are located outside the hull, but the power cables pass inside, very close to the engines. Due to high temperatures, the wiring often deteriorates, requiring replacement; however, this is a demanding job that requires lifting the yacht out of the water. From today, this will no longer be the case, thanks to Mizar 3”.

Tamanti continues: “Our system simultaneously manages the power supply and two-way energy transmission for the platform sensors. It’s a single unit that, in the unfortunate event it needs replacing, allows you to do so without having to lift the boat. This results in significant savings on transportation, accommodation, and service costs, which increase with the size of the hull”.

The technology is truly remarkable and addresses a much-felt need. “The incentive to develop Mizar 3 came from the leading shipyards we collaborate with, which urged us to find a solution to this widespread issue due to the costs and time involved – explains Tamanti – Our system can be repaired or replaced directly in the water, which is an undeniable pro”.

The name Mizar 3 is is justified by the fact that the device can manage up to three sensors. After conquering the market with its underwater lighting systems, including watertight LED neon lights that offer every type of underwater lighting solution, Ampermarine has reached another extraordinary milestone that will set it apart from the competition.

Other Ampermarine innovations at Cannes 2024

In addition to the Mizar 3 underwater wireless device, Ampermarine showcased a new series of illuminated signage for all types of boats, large and small. “This product was previously reserved for superyachts but can now also be used by owners of smaller boats”, concludes Tamanti.
