All the “globe-trotters” wait for it as the elder sister of that Garcia 45 which raised much dust some years ago: a perfect “machine” to stack up thousands of miles at any latitude. This was the idea of Jimmy Cornell ( inventor and organiser of ARC) for all those who want to leave and travel all around the world, with their family, in safety and without the typical regatta stress.
It was produced by one of the most prestigious shipyards beyond the Alps, specialised in aluminium boats, Garcia. Boat 45 was sold like hot cakes. Then, the planning of boat 52 which will be presented at the Boot of Dusseldorf.
New 52 uses some elements of the previous model, very common in this type of boats: inner steering gear, protected by a pilot house and with a 360° view, astern and fore watertight bulkheads; deep and sheltered cockpit; solid and large structure; sea chests over the waterline; heat protection (and not only) with a large polyethylene layer; shaft transmission; protected and reinforced rudder axis.
