ICE 64 Explorer, the revolution of long-range sailing is here

Stemming from the pencil of Umberto Felci is this brand-new ICE 64 Explorer which, as the title of the article easily suggests, is destined to lay another milestone on the path to innovation in modern sailboats.

The design of this boat follows the “family feeling” that ICE Yachts has accustomed us to in recent years. A unique and distinctive style, where sinuous and sporty lines, combined with the very high build quality and performance of these sailing yachts, have established its industry leadership.

ICE 64 Explorer, however, is much more than that; in fact, it encompasses a number of functional and stylistic innovations that, designed for owners who want to spend long periods aboard or engage in oceanic sailing, effectively elevate this wonderful sailing yacht to an Explorer level.

This design has immediately won the public’s favor as no less than two units are already under construction.

The innovations of the new ICE 64 Explorer

The most conspicuous innovation is definitely the carbon Hard-Top that, springing from the deckhouse, continues all the way to the extreme stern. This solution allows safe and weatherproof sailing in all conditions. A choice that allows the ICE 64 Explorer to be suitable both for sailing in very cold climates and for sailing in sunnier regions where traditional awnings do not provide enough shelter.

In addition to housing a large number of solar panels, this hardtop roof is also equipped with water collection channels that not only provide adequate drainage for such a large area, but using the rainwater collection technique also improves the management of water reserves on board.

The stern platform of the ICE 64 Explorer is designed to safely house a large tender and thus replace the classic garage. An ingenious carbon stern arch, invisible to the eye when stowed, allows for safe and effortless tender hauling and launching operations.

This sailboat is provided with two helms, which allows for both great maneuverability and a redundant system in case of accidental collisions. ICE 64 Explorer can also count on a shallow draft version for increased exploration possibilities.

Equally noteworthy is the 48-volt electrical system, which, in addition to running the entire boat, winches included, with reduced amperages (a quarter of the 12-volt equivalent) and thus more safely, contributes significantly to overall energy efficiency, increasing its range.

The construction of the hull and deck are done with the female mold infusion lamination technique and the use of hybrid fibers. This solution ensures a combination of structural rigidity and noise and vibration reduction. The strength and durability of the ICE 64 Explorer are further enhanced by advanced technologies, applied to the entire construction.

Interior

Three cabins and an unusual space layout characterize the interior of this ICE 64 Explorer. The dinette is huge and equipped with two opposing sofas that, thanks to the movement of seats and tables, perform many different functions. In fact, they can be used during the various occasions of the day (lunch, dinner, cocktails) as well as transformed to accommodate guests or to serve as a (very luxurious) guard berth.
