Quick Nautical Equipment and Volvo Penta: a new synergy for safer and more intuitive docking

A new partnership between Quick Nautical Equipment and Volvo Penta marks an important step in the evolution of yachitng. The two companies have announced the full integration of Quick’s proportional electric thrusters with Volvo Penta’s Assisted Docking system, with the aim of offering increasingly precise, safe, and stress-free harbor maneuvers.

Quick Group, an international leader in nautical accessories and a symbol of Made in Italy quality, is known for products ranging from windlasses and anchoring systems to electronic controls and thrusters. Volvo Penta, on the other hand, has always been at the forefront of marine propulsion, with groundbreaking technological solutions such as Assisted Docking, introduced in 2021. Now these two companies are joining their expertise to make docking a smooth and intuitive operation, even in challenging wind and current conditions.

Assisted Docking: the technology that makes life in the harbor easier

The Assisted Docking system translates the captain’s intentions into controlled movements of the boat, constantly correcting the effects of external conditions. Thanks to GPS, it maintains course with millimetric precision and allows straight-line movements, rotations on its own axis, or small positional adjustments via joystick. Once the control is released, the boat remains steady, giving the captain time to calmly prepare for the next maneuver. This has already made docking safer and more accessible for boaters of all levels.

Full integration with Quick Nautical thrusters

Quick Nautical’s proportional electric thrusters, developed and produced entirely in Italy, are now compatible with Aquamatic DPI and Volvo Penta IPS propulsion systems via the PCS (Proportional Control System). The official market release is expected by the end of 2025.
