From April 15 to 18, 2026, Sanya will once again turn into the beating heart of Asian yachting with the Sanya Boat Festival. Hosted at the Sanya International Yachting Center, the event has been included in the program of the sixth edition of the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) and this year will revolve around the theme “Window of China, Voyage to the Future”, confirming the city’s growing importance as a strategic bridge between China’s yachting industry and international markets.
This year’s edition is expected to be particularly significant in both scale and global reach. More than 70% of exhibitors will be international brands from Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada, joining leading Chinese manufacturers—including Dalian Huanzhu, Qingdao Haoyun, and Qihang Yachts—who will showcase their latest innovations at the show, a clear sign of an increasingly mature industry and steadily rising competitiveness.
The numbers on the docks are equally impressive: around 200 boats on display, several world premieres, 15 national debuts, and the presence of as many as six superyachts over 80 feet in length define a high-profile showcase, unapologetically focused on the high-end segment.
Beyond exhibition: business, innovation and sustainability
The Sanya Boat Festival, however, is far more than a traditional trade show. Also benefiting from the regulatory and tax advantages offered by the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya is steadily building an internationally oriented ecosystem, with the ambition of becoming one of Asia’s leading industry hubs.
The event stands out for its highly structured format, designed to go well beyond simply displaying yachts. Alongside areas dedicated to international premieres and new product launches, there are spaces reserved for business meetings, B2B sessions, and matchmaking activities, all aimed at fostering direct dialogue between shipyards, owners, investors, and industry professionals.
The goal is to establish itself as a unique platform for strategic exchange and business development, capable of creating new synergies between the Chinese market and the world’s leading industry players.
Particularly noteworthy—and in line with global trends in modern yachting, which is increasingly focused on environmental sustainability and innovation—is the New Energy Yacht Zone, a dedicated area for electric boats and alternative propulsion systems. It offers a unique opportunity for key players in the global yachting industry to engage with cutting-edge technologies and explore new models of mobility at sea.
The Sanya International Yacht Industry Seminar and the challenge of globalization
On April 16, alongside the main event, the Sanya International Yacht Industry Seminar will take place—a forum bringing together industry players and key stakeholders from China, Europe, and Southeast Asia. This year, the focus will be entirely on what is shaping up to be the next phase of global yachting, transitioning from a product-driven growth model to a far more structured and international approach.
Discussions will cover market trends, production innovation, and operational systems, but above all, post-sales infrastructure, insurance frameworks, and cross-border regulatory compliance—critical topics for Chinese brands aiming to expand beyond their domestic market.
During the event, the Sanya Yacht Import & Export Trade Association will also make its official debut. This new organization has been established to support Chinese manufacturers in their international growth and to strengthen cooperation with global partners.
With the backing of local policies, growing interest from major brands, and an increasingly structured industrial vision, Sanya and the Sanya Boat Festival continue to stand out not only as a prestigious showcase, but as symbols of a global yachting industry in the midst of transformation.
