Sardinian Boating Looks to International Markets with the Sardinia Boat Show
From May 29 to June 6, 2027, the Sardinia Boat Show moves to the Olbia Waterfront – Porto Vecchio. At the heart of the project are shipbuilding, refitting, investment, and the development of the regional nautical supply chain.
The Fiera Nautica di Sardegna changes its location and name, becoming the Sardinia Boat Show. The next edition will take place from May 29 to June 6, 2027, at the Olbia Waterfront – Porto Vecchio, with a project that aims to strengthen the event’s role as a meeting point between the Sardinian boating industry and international markets.
The initiative, promoted by Cipnes Gallura with the involvement of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Olbia, the Port Network Authority of the Sardinian Sea, and regional industrial consortia, builds on the experience of previous editions organized in Porto Rotondo and expands its objectives. The new setup prioritizes the productive activities of the nautical sector, from shipbuilding to refitting, maintenance, component manufacturing, and specialized services. The choice of Porto Vecchio in Olbia will allow for larger onshore and on-water exhibition areas, with the capacity to accommodate superyachts and large vessels as well.
Internationalization represents one of the core elements of the project. The Sardinia Boat Show is part of the regional plan dedicated to the development of the nautical industry, with two complementary goals: supporting the presence of Sardinian companies in foreign markets and fostering new productive investments on the Island. The event will involve the primary regional hubs of the sector—from Gallura to the Cagliari area, and from Ogliastra to the Sassari area—enhancing their port infrastructure, industrial zones, and manufacturing expertise. The location in Olbia, combined with its international flight network, also meets the need to facilitate the participation of foreign operators, shipyards, and investors.

Sardinia Boat Show: Education and Innovation
An additional element concerns the development of professional skills. Through the involvement of UniOlbia and the University of Cagliari, the Sardinia Boat Show will highlight Naval Engineering degree programs developed in Olbia as well as technological training applied to the industry. This link between universities and businesses takes on particular importance in a sector where design, production, maintenance, and new technologies demand increasingly specialized professionals.
The Outlook for Alternative Fuels
The evolution of the nautical supply chain also encompasses lower climate impact fuels, including biomethanol. Produced from biological feedstocks, it can represent a solution for the progressive reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, provided that the sustainability of the entire production lifecycle and the actual emission balance are verified. Its maritime application requires compatible engine systems, dedicated onboard systems, and suitable distribution infrastructure.
The Sardinia Boat Show thus positions itself not only as an exhibition event, but as an opportunity for dialogue among businesses, institutions, educational bodies, and investors, with the objective of consolidating Sardinia’s role in the Italian nautical manufacturing supply chain.
