Aquila 42 Coupe makes its debut at Boot: a power catamaran looking to the future

The Boot Düsseldorf show marked a key moment for Aquila Power Catamarans, with the official European debut of the Aquila 42 Coupe. A true premiere that did not go unnoticed, confirming the growing interest of the Old Continent’s market in the American brand’s power catamarans, now supported by a significantly strengthened dealer network.

The Aquila 42 Coupe is a power catamaran that combines advanced technological solutions, efficiency and comfort, offering a convincing interpretation of the concept of sustainable boating without sacrificing performance. It represents a far more advanced alternative to the classic monohull, and Boot Düsseldorf proved to be the ideal showcase to demonstrate this to the European audience.

The Aquila 42 Coupe in detail

One of the most appreciated features is the innovative Aquila Hydro Glide® carbon-fiber foiling system, supplied as standard. This technology has allowed the shipyard to improve efficiency by up to 40% compared to traditional monohull boats. At a cruising speed of 30 knots, the Aquila 42 Coupé can achieve ranges close to 500 nautical miles, depending on load and sea conditions, with fuel consumption in the region of 0.6–0.7 km per litre. In Düsseldorf, the system was displayed in full, offering a rare opportunity to take a close look at the engineering behind these results.

From a layout and onboard lifestyle perspective, the Aquila 42 Coupe successfully blends the sporty character of an open boat with the comfort of a luxury yacht. The generous beam of almost 4.9 metres creates surprisingly spacious interiors for a boat of this length, clearly surpassing those of hulls in the same segment. The single-level deck ensures a seamless flow between the saloon and cockpit, while the large electrically operated opening roof and expansive side windows flood the interiors with natural light, enhancing the perception of space.

The sleeping area configuration is particularly well executed, offering two double cabins, both with en-suite bathrooms and separate shower stalls. This makes the Aquila 42 Coupe an ideal yacht for both day trips and extended cruising. From a construction standpoint as well, Aquila has placed strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. The hull, deck and superstructure are built using the “one-shot mold” process, which guarantees outstanding finish consistency and structural integrity. Bulkheads and stringers are infused with vinylester resin, while the attachment of the hard top to the deck is integrated into the structure, improving robustness at high speeds.

Practical for every need

The unit on display in Düsseldorf was equipped with twin Volvo Penta D6 440 hp engines with Dual Propeller transmission, but the Aquila 42 Coupe is also available with twin Mercury Verado V10 outboard engines rated at 400 or 425 hp, confirming the flexibility of a boat designed to adapt to different usage requirements. “Owning a catamaran offers many practical advantages – confirms Jean Raas, Chief Product Officer of Aquila Catamarans – We are excited to present the 42 Coupe at boot Düsseldorf, where visitors can see firsthand the unique design and build quality of Aquila models. Our goal is to continue growing the popularity of power catamarans in Europe, together with our European dealer network, and to inform potential buyers about all the benefits of this type of vessel”.

With this first appearance in Düsseldorf, Aquila Power Catamarans has sent a clear message to the European market: the power catamaran is no longer a niche product, but a concrete and mature proposition for a new idea of boating—more efficient, more spacious and increasingly future-oriented. Moreover, Aquila’s presence at Boot came at a moment of strong recognition for the brand: its bigger sister, the Aquila 46 Coupé, has recently won the Yacht Style Award 2025 and has been nominated for the European Powerboat of the Year 2026 award.
