Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 Sea Trial
Powering the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 in our test is a pair of 550 hp Cummins engines with V-Drive shaft line transmission—a connoisseur’s setup that we put to the test right away, accelerating to 10 knots. The wake already starts to detach, and by 12 knots it’s fully clean: without touching the trim tabs, the boat naturally levels out on the water and begins to pick up speed.
At 2000 rpm, we’re already doing 16 knots; at 2800 rpm, we hit 27 knots. The engines have a truly compelling sound that tempts us to push the throttles all the way forward. 28, 29, 30 knots—and it doesn’t show the slightest sign of strain. We peak at 34.8 knots without even adjusting the trim: this boat simply sails like that—smooth and effortless.
We slow down to find a good cruising speed for long distances, and we settle on 25 knots at 2600 rpm. Fuel consumption is under 5 liters per nautical mile, and the ride is calm and composed, with the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 gliding over the water. But there’s no time to relax during our test—it’s time to see how she handles a series of turns.
As you’ll see in the video, the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 handles like a compact superyacht, delivering an impressive level of comfort even during tight turns and counter-turns. The hull moves with total confidence, following a nearly perfect circular trajectory. It doesn’t heel excessively but still delivers a truly engaging driving experience.
The Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 in detail
This edition of the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 is special. The Marino Alfani’s excellent design—defined by sleek, symmetrical lines—meets the interiors by SY Design, one of the most renowned interior design studios in Europe. The helm station is modern and high-tech, fully equipped with throttles, joystick, and two large displays. Visibility is absolutely up to standard, aided by the side windows that are especially helpful during tight turns. In short, everything you need for relaxed and effortless cruising is right here.
There are three forward-facing seats, with the center one reserved for the captain, who also benefits from a handy raised platform for improved visibility. But the real standout feature of the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 is the outdoor dinette—simply enormous. The large U-shaped sofa comfortably seats six guests, and up to eight with the help of two extra poufs. The table can be extended, making it perfect for enjoying long, pleasant evenings at anchor or docked in the marina.
The beach club is also enormous, featuring a large sun pad that can comfortably accommodate up to four people. Beneath it, there’s even a garage for a tender. Another key area is the forward lounge, laid out in a Portuguese bridge style, with another spacious sun pad and two facing sofas. Here too, the dimensions are generous, and thanks to a sunshade supported by carbon poles, this space also offers excellent livability.
In short, the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 has everything you need for enjoying relaxing days at sea, and the layout is truly outstanding for a 13-meter boat. What’s more, to further increase the already impressive beam, two fold-out side wings can be opened, adding an extra two meters of width.
As for the interiors, we’re facing a true masterpiece. The Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 features a large open-plan space, at the center of which sits the master cabin’s king-size bed, complete with a private bathroom and separate shower. But don’t worry about privacy—this area can be closed off to become a fully private suite. The night area is completed by a second VIP cabin, accessed via two steps. In the model we tested, there are two beds: a king-size on the port side and a single on the starboard. This cabin is served by a second bathroom, cleverly designed to function both as a day toilet and as a private head for the VIP cabin.
But the surprises aboard the Rio Yachts Le Mans 50 don’t stop there. Three dedicated wardrobes for storage, a compartment that hides the coffee machine, a concealed wine cellar, and a third fridge are just a few of the features that make this boat truly exceptional. In short, if you’re looking for a motor yacht that stands out from the crowd, offering generous space, undeniable performance, and a sleek, sporty design, the Le Mans 50 is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
